General Secretary presides over official welcoming ceremony for US President Joe Biden

On the afternoon of September 10, the official welcoming ceremony for US President Joe Biden was solemnly held at the Presidential Palace according to the highest protocol reserved for heads of state.

At the invitation of General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong, President of the United States of America Joe Biden arrived in Hanoi, beginning a State visit to Vietnam from September 10-11.

On the afternoon of September 10, the official welcoming ceremony for US President Joe Biden was solemnly held at the Presidential Palace according to the highest protocol reserved for heads of state. General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong presided over the welcoming ceremony.

Attending the welcoming ceremony were Politburo member, Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man; General To Lam, Politburo member, Minister of Public Security; General Phan Van Giang, Politburo member, Minister of National Defense ; Party Central Committee Secretary, Chief of the Party Central Committee Office Le Minh Hung; Party Central Committee Secretary, Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai; Party Central Committee member, Head of the Party Central Committee's External Relations Commission Le Hoai Trung; Party Central Committee member, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son; leaders of Hanoi city, Vietnamese Ambassador to the United States, Office of the General Secretary...

A large number of children in Hanoi welcomed US President Joe Biden and members of the delegation.

At exactly 4:50 p.m., the motorcade carrying US President Joe Biden entered the Presidential Palace. General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong welcomed US President Joe Biden.

The two sides introduced the officials present at the welcoming ceremony. General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong invited US President Joe Biden to step up to the podium of honor. Military bands played the national anthems of both countries.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and US President Joe Biden review the honor guard of the Vietnam People's Army.

This is the first time a US President has paid a state visit at the invitation of the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

The visit took place on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Comprehensive Partnership between the two countries. This is also a continuation of the tradition of nearly 30 years of Vietnam-US diplomatic relations.

Immediately after the welcoming ceremony, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong led the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation and US President Joe Biden led the high-ranking US delegation to hold talks at the Party Central Committee Headquarters.
