Just hours before Super Bowl LVIII, Biden’s TikTok account posted its first video , in which the US president shared his thoughts on the game. The video has garnered more than 4.2 million views, demonstrating TikTok’s undeniable appeal to young people.

However, this move goes against the policy of the US government. In February 2023, the government of this country ordered a ban on TikTok on devices owned by state agencies due to concerns that personal data could be collected by the Chinese side.
Explaining the discrepancy, Biden’s advisers said they wanted to reach more voters, especially young people, who are the most popular group of TikTok users. According to a Pew Research survey, up to a third of Americans aged 18-29 said they regularly get news from TikTok.
However, the use of TikTok in President Biden's campaign also raises questions about the consistency of the administration's policy towards the platform. In March 2023, the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) proposed separating TikTok from its parent company ByteDance to avoid a ban.
