In 2015, the People's Council of Ho Chi Minh City decided to invest in upgrading and expanding Tan Thoi Hiep 21 Street with a scale of 1,750m x 16m, with a total construction investment of 134 billion VND, to be implemented in the period 2016-2019.

The work of compensation, support, resettlement and site clearance was carried out as an independent project with a budget of nearly 270 billion VND, invested by the Compensation and Site Clearance Board of District 12. However, due to difficulties in site clearance and compensation, the project could not be implemented.

With the City People's Council approving the adjustment decision, this project's total investment will triple, from more than 403 billion VND to more than 1,364 billion VND.

The project capital increased due to the change in cross-sectional area from 16m to 25m, thus increasing the compensation, support, and resettlement area; updating the cost of compensation, support, resettlement, and site clearance into the total project investment; adding a 320m long drainage system on Duong Thi Muoi Street.

At the same time, the project implementation period will also be adjusted from 2016-2019 to 2016-2027 due to prolonged site clearance and compensation work.

District 12 People's Committee plans to reclaim about 15,480 square meters of land to implement the project. The number of affected cases is about 447, including 446 households (37 cases of total clearance), 1 organization.
