South Korea's Yonhap news agency, citing a source from the country's military, said that on the afternoon of January 7, North Korea again conducted live-fire drills in the waters off its western coast.

According to sources, the North Korean military conducted drills north of South Korea's Yeonpyeong Island from around 4 p.m. on January 7 (around 2 p.m. Vietnam time).
Initial reports said no North Korean shells fell south of the Northern Limit Line (NLL), the de facto maritime border between the two Koreas in the Yellow Sea, and there were no reports of casualties.
Ongjin County, which administers South Korea's northwestern islands, warned in a text message to residents: "The military on Yeonpyeong Island is currently responding, but residents are advised to exercise caution with outdoor activities."
This is the third consecutive day that North Korea has conducted artillery fire from its southwest coast. Pyongyang has not commented on this information.
Previously, North Korea fired about 200 artillery shells on January 5 and 60 artillery shells on January 6 from the southwestern coastal area of the country.
South Korean troops on the frontline islands of Yeonpyeong and Baengnyeong immediately held a drill firing more than 400 artillery shells into the NLL in response on January 5. This was the first time the South Korean military fired artillery shells into this area since the two sides signed a military tension reduction agreement in September 2018.
The above moves have increased tensions between the two Koreas right in the first days of the New Year.
