Yen Ky commune was established on the basis of merging three communes: Yen Ky, Phuong Vien, and Huong Xa. This is the first commune of Ha Hoa district (old) to be awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces.

Going back in time, 79 years ago, in October 1946, War Zone 10 was established, in which Ha Hoa district (old) including 6 communes: Ha Hoa, Yen Ky, Vinh Chan, Dan Thuong, Van Lang, Hien Luong was chosen as the military base of the Resistance Committee and Military Command of the zone.

In Yen Ky, this place was chosen as the location for the headquarters of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial Administrative Resistance Committee, the Party Building Committees and the Provincial Party Committee Office, the provincial mass organizations and many central agencies. The provincial agencies and warehouses were scattered in the houses of the people, mainly in Gioc Phat village.

Local people voluntarily built camps in the forest to give their houses to cadres and soldiers, regularly contributed food, provisions, means of combat and kept secrets for civil and military agencies. To record the revolutionary tradition, in August 2003, a memorial stele commemorating the tradition where the Provincial Party Committee had its headquarters during the 1948-1954 period was built in Yen Ky.

This place also becomes a place for generations of cadres and civil servants in the agencies assisting the Provincial Party Committee to review tradition, pride, responsibility in work as well as responsibility to the Party and the People.

Not only that, Yen Ky was also the resting place of the artists in the early period of "receiving the way" when they were determined to join the resistance and use their pens to serve the people. On July 23, 24, 25, 1948, in Zone 1, Yen Ky commune, 80 artists from all over the country attended the first National Arts Congress.

In recognition of the achievements of the Party Committee, government and people in the commune, in 2002, the Party and State awarded the title of Hero of the Armed Forces to Yen Ky commune.

Yen Ky is the commune with the largest tea growing area in the province with about 650 hectares.

Inheriting that historical value, over the years, the cadres and people of Yen Ky have constantly overcome difficulties, strived to develop the economy , contributing to changing the face of the homeland. In the 2020-2025 term, the Party Committee of the commune has promoted the tradition of solidarity, dynamism, creativity, overcome difficulties, determined to strive to successfully implement the Resolution of the Congress.

Total social investment capital reached 2,824 billion VND, of which the basic construction investment capital implemented in the area in 5 years was 159,340 billion VND. Total budget revenue in the area in 2025 reached 20.7 billion VND, ranking 2nd out of 6 communes of the old Ha Hoa district (after Ha Hoa commune).

Average income per capita in 2025 will reach 51.9 million VND/person/year, equal to 103.8% of the target set by the Resolution. Yen Ky commune (old) and Huong Xa commune (old) will meet new rural standards; Phuong Vien commune (old) will meet 15/19 criteria for new rural construction. The whole commune currently has 26/27 residential areas meeting new rural standards.

The work of building the Party and the political system continues to be innovated, creating positive changes. The rate of subordinate Party cells classified as having completed their annual tasks well is 90.5%. The average rate of Party members classified as having completed their tasks well over the past 5 years is 93.73%.

Yen Ky commune leaders visited and inspected the production and business situation of Khanh Hoa Tea Factory and Phu Ben Tea One Member Co., Ltd. built in Zone 4, Yen Ky commune.

Comrade Hoang Manh Thang - Secretary of Yen Ky Commune Party Committee said: In the 2025 - 2030 term, Yen Ky Commune Party Committee set out 16 main targets to be implemented. Specifically, striving for an average annual increase of 10% in local budget revenue. State budget revenue by 2030 will reach 138.8 billion VND. Total social investment capital implemented in the locality will increase by an average annual increase of 5%. Total social investment capital implemented in the locality by 2030 will reach 6,700 billion VND.

The total number of businesses operating in the area is 54. The rate of commune-level officials and civil servants who have been trained in basic digital skills and mastered digital skills, and applied technology in management and operation is 100%. Strive to have basically no poor or near-poor households by 2030 according to the multidimensional poverty standard...

To achieve these goals, the Yen Ky Commune Party Committee identified the breakthrough as: "Focusing on mobilizing and effectively using resources to invest in socio-economic development, striving to build a commune that meets new rural standards". Along with the key tasks: Promoting comprehensive Party building, promptly preventing signs of degradation in political ideology, lifestyle ethics, and signs of "self-evolution" and "self-transformation" within the Party. Improving the quality and efficiency of the People's Council and People's Committee's operations, promoting administrative reform, building e-government and digital government. Prioritizing the development of agricultural production in the direction of goods, paying attention to the development of small-scale industry, trade and services.

Effectively exploit potentials and advantages; resolutely improve the investment and business environment; build key infrastructure. Improve the quality of comprehensive education, care for cultural life right from residential areas; take good care of people's health, ensure social security, create jobs, and sustainably reduce poverty...

It can be seen that, although time has passed, the historical traces of the resistance base have gradually changed, but the spirit, will and feelings of the people here for the Party and the revolution have not changed. Yen Ky today has had turning-point changes, a greater mindset and responsibility, but the face of a renewed countryside has gradually appeared, increasingly prosperous, rich and civilized.
