The Ministry of Education and Training and the Ministry of Justice recently had a working session with Ho Chi Minh City University of Law and Central College of Law on the project to establish a Central Branch of Ho Chi Minh City University of Law on the basis of Central College of Law.
Dr. Le Truong Son - Principal of Ho Chi Minh City University of Law - said that the establishment of the Central branch in Quang Tri province not only aims to improve the quality of education , expand the school's training network but also create favorable conditions for learners and contribute to spreading legal knowledge to regions across the country, especially areas with many difficulties.
Mr. Son also committed that Ho Chi Minh City University of Law will proactively develop a plan to receive, convert and develop branches in a systematic manner, in accordance with the school's strategic development orientation, ensuring psychological stability for staff, lecturers and students during the transition process, as well as maintaining and improving the quality of training locally.
Deputy Minister of Education and Training Hoang Minh Son and Ms. Dang Hoang Oanh - Deputy Minister of Justice - supported this project.
Mr. Hoang Minh Son affirmed that the merger of the Central Law College into the branch of Ho Chi Minh City University of Law is a step in line with the general policy of the Party and State on streamlining the organization and improving the operational efficiency of higher education institutions.
It is expected that after the project is approved, the branch will deploy enrollment and training for undergraduate and postgraduate levels starting from the fourth quarter of 2025.
The branch will focus on training in law at all levels and other fields within the scope of the school's current training, while promoting training linkages and organizing legal training courses for local staff.
The third university in Quang Tri
The Central College of Law was established in 2020 on the basis of upgrading Dong Hoi Law College (Quang Binh). After the merger of provinces, the Central College of Law belongs to Quang Tri province.
Currently, Quang Tri has 2 higher education institutions: Quang Binh University and Hue University branch in Quang Tri. The Central branch of Ho Chi Minh City University of Law will be the 3rd higher education institution in this province.
Statistics over the years show that Quang Binh University and Hue University branch in Quang Tri have had rather sluggish enrollment and small training scale. In 2023, Quang Binh University even owed 150 lecturers 8 months of salary.
