On the afternoon of September 18, the leader of Thu Duc Regional Medical Center (HCMC) informed Dan Tri reporter about the process of handling the case of dozens of students of Nguyen Van Triet Primary School (Linh Xuan Ward, HCMC) showing unusual symptoms, suspected of food poisoning after meals on the opening day of school.
Accordingly, on September 5, more than 1,700 students at Nguyen Van Triet Primary School ate food including minced meat noodle soup and quail eggs (lunch) and flan (snack).
By the morning of September 6, Nguyen Van Triet Primary School recorded information that many students (a total of 74 children) had symptoms of digestive disorders such as stomachache, diarrhea... Of these, 3 students had to be hospitalized for treatment.
On September 7 (Sunday), Nguyen Van Triet Primary School, together with the meal provider and parents, proactively took food samples from the September 5 meal for testing, and the results were negative for bacterial contamination.
According to the leader of Thu Duc Regional Medical Center, on September 8, Linh Xuan Ward People's Committee received information from parents whose children had unusual symptoms, so they went to work at Nguyen Van Triet Primary School. Previously, the authorities were unaware of this incident.

On September 15, after the press published the incident, the Thu Duc Regional Medical Center and the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety received the information and immediately went to work, conducted the investigation and handled the suspected food poisoning incident at Nguyen Van Triet Primary School.
At this point, all students' health has stabilized, and taking food samples for testing is no longer valid because the incident happened a long time ago.
A representative of the Thu Duc Regional Medical Center said that they have recommended that Nguyen Van Triet Primary School comply with measures to prevent poisoning and ensure food safety for students.
In addition, the authorities also noted that schools need to promptly inform the medical center and local authorities when an incident occurs, so that all parties can promptly coordinate in handling the situation, in the current context that Ho Chi Minh City operates under a 2-level government model, and many focal points have been rearranged.
