Vu Quang district ( Ha Tinh ) is urgently preparing conditions to successfully organize a defense zone exercise; meeting the requirements and objectives set out.

Vu Quang district leaders inspected the construction progress of the site for the district defense area drill.

According to the plan, the Vu Quang district defense area exercise is expected to take place for 3 days, in early August 2023.

The exercise is conducted in three phases: putting the armed forces into combat readiness, putting localities into defense status; organizing preparations for defensive operations; and practicing defensive operations.

The purpose of the defense zone combat exercise is to effectively implement Resolution No. 28-NQ/TW dated September 22, 2008 of the Politburo on continuing to build provinces and centrally run cities into strong defense zones in the new situation; effectively implement Decree No. 03/2019/ND-CP dated September 5, 2019 of the Government on coordination between the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of National Defense in performing the tasks of protecting national security, ensuring social order and safety, fighting against crimes and defense tasks; Decree No. 02/2020/ND-CP dated June 30, 2020 of the Government regulating the coordination activities of militia and self-defense forces...

In addition, the exercise also aims to assess the leadership and management capacity of Party committees and authorities and the advisory capacity of agencies, departments, and branches; and the coordination between forces in construction and defensive combat operations.

Through the exercise, adjust and supplement the operational documents, plans to transfer localities into defense states, and plans to ensure defense needs in the first year of war (Plan B) to suit the requirements and tasks in the new situation.

In order for the defense zone exercise to take place on schedule and achieve the best results, recently, Vu Quang district has directed the district Military Command to urgently complete preparations according to the set goals and requirements.

Lieutenant Colonel Pham Manh Hoang - Commander of the Military Command of Vu Quang district said: "Closely following the instructions of the district and superiors, the unit has built a system of tunnels and trenches in accordance with regulations. Step by step, we have deployed the work of increasing production and raising livestock in the garden at the combat base area of about 400 ^m2 (planting long-term crops such as bananas, lemongrass, hot peppers, eggplants, spices; squash trellis system)... Currently, the volume of work and items has reached over 60%".
