(Dan Tri) - This recall only affects the hybrid version of the newly imported Honda CR-V, not including the purely gasoline versions assembled domestically.

Approved by the Vietnam Register, Honda continues to implement a recall program for the CR-V e:HEV RS (hybrid) model to inspect and replace the high-pressure fuel pump. A total of 2,965 vehicles are affected, manufactured from August 24, 2023 to September 11, 2024.

The Honda CR-V e:HEV RS was first launched in our country at the end of October 2023. Nearly 3,000 recalled vehicles can be considered the entire number of vehicles imported to Vietnam so far, of which 1,359 vehicles have been delivered to customers from the beginning of 2024 to the end of October, according to data published by the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA).

According to the distributor, users of affected vehicles may smell gasoline when starting the engine or during operation. The reason is that the material that makes up the high-pressure fuel pump on these vehicles is not heated enough, so the level of reinforcement is not guaranteed.

During use, this fuel pump is likely to crack, thereby causing a fuel leak and possibly creating a fire or explosion hazard. However, the Japanese car company said that it has not recorded any unsafe cases on the market.

Owners of affected CR-V e:HEV RS can bring their vehicles to Honda Vietnam dealerships for repair. The inspection and replacement of spare parts will take about 30 minutes per vehicle, free of charge.

Despite its listed price of up to 1.259 billion VND, the Honda CR-V e:HEV RS is a popular hybrid car in Vietnam, second only to the Toyota Innova Cross Hybrid (Photo: Nguyen Lam).

Not long ago, Honda Vietnam also launched a recall program for more than 11,000 CR-V, Civic and Civic Type R vehicles to fix errors related to the steering system. Of which, 5,910 CR-V vehicles of G, L 2WD and L AWD versions and 1,194 CR-V e:HEV RS vehicles manufactured between October 17, 2023 and August 28, 2024, all of the latest generation.

The specific cause of this recall is that the amount of lubricating grease in the worm gear of the steering rack decreases during use, leading to increased friction and sticking. This condition causes the steering wheel of affected vehicles to make abnormal noise and vibrate when turning the steering wheel.

Therefore, owners of Honda CR-V e:HEV RS vehicles whose production dates coincide with both recalls should take note and arrange a reasonable time for a comprehensive repair. The time to check and replace the steering rack for each vehicle is 3.9 hours, according to the Japanese automaker's announcement.
