“Green Sunday” was organized by Cai Khe Ward Youth Union in collaboration withFPT University Can Tho last weekend, attracting more than 600 union members and youths to participate. The young people collected garbage, cleared weeds, and built green - clean - beautiful roads on Le Anh Xuan Street and Song Hau Park. Through the activities, the union hopes to spread the message of environmental protection, calling on the community to join hands for a green, clean, and beautiful city.
With the goal of contributing to building a green - clean - beautiful city, in recent times, Cai Khe Ward Youth Union has implemented many models to propagate and raise awareness of environmental protection for young people. According to Mr. Lai Phuoc Truong Thanh, Secretary of the Ward Youth Union, in addition to the activities "Volunteer Saturday" and "Green Sunday", the Ward Youth Union coordinates with organizations to maintain the organization of the festival "Children participate in environmental protection" in the summer, with many practical activities. In addition, from mid-July 2025 to now, the Ward Youth Union has established a volunteer team to build a civilized urban area, with the core force being the local youth union - association officials, regularly supporting functional agencies to propagate cultural and civilized lifestyles in public places, participating in environmental sanitation, building the model "Green - clean - beautiful - civilized - safe route"...
According to Can Tho City Youth Union, in the 2025 Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign, the youth union bases implemented many models, contributing to environmental protection. Notable models are: "National Flag Road - Lighting up security", "Youth Nursery", "Orange Journey", "Bright - Green - Clean - Beautiful - Civilized - Safe Route", "Eco-Embankment"... Specifically, in August 2025, Tan Binh Commune Union organized 3 campaigns to protect the environment, collect waste on the road in Thanh My C hamlet, incubate more than 2,000 ornamental flowers to prepare for the construction of a beautiful road in Thanh My C hamlet and implement the "Eco-Embankment" model (reinforcing the embankment with bamboo) at the New Canal embankment in Tan Quoi hamlet. Besides creating beauty, the ecological embankment contributes to reducing landslides, ensuring safety for people.
The student force of universities and colleges in the city also carried out many projects and tasks to protect the environment during the 2 peak months of the "Green Summer" Campaign 2025. With more than 24,000 students participating in provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta region and Dak Lak province, young people propagated and supported people to clean up around their residential areas, implement 3 clean (clean house, clean alley, clean road), voluntarily collect and treat waste; participate in clearing bushes, unclogging sewers.
Typically, the Youth Union of Nam Can Tho University deployed the "Green Summer" volunteer team on 30 fronts; in which, each team carried out at least 1 project, part of environmental protection work. As a student participating in the "Green Summer" campaign on 2 fronts: Tho Chau special zone, An Giang province and Vi Tan ward, Can Tho city, Nguyen Nhut Huy, a student majoring in Business Administration, Nam Can Tho University, said: "In addition to building a green - clean - beautiful environmental landscape, we focus on propagating and instructing people to classify waste at source. Each household classifying waste at source not only helps save money (some waste materials can be recycled or sold to raise funds), but also reduces environmental pollution."
Youth Unions in the city also combine environmental protection campaigns with disease prevention and control propaganda, protecting public health through general cleaning and improving the environmental landscape in residential areas. In particular, some youth union organizations also launched a campaign to collect scrap to sell to raise funds, help the elderly and disadvantaged children, and spread good values to society.
