Britain, France and Poland seek to block Trump's path, President Zelensky declares loudly

The re-election of Donald Trump as US president not only worries Ukraine, but many European countries are also looking for ways to deal with the impact of this on military aid to Kiev.

Throughout his campaign and even after winning the US presidency, Mr. Trump maintained that he could end the conflict in Ukraine in “one day,” perhaps even before taking office. He has criticized President Joe Biden’s administration for its excessive military support for Kiev.

Part of the deal is likely to require Kiev to accept the loss of some of the territories it controls, and possibly reduce its support for Ukraine.

Faced with this risk, The Telegraph revealed that British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron are planning to lobby US President Joe Biden to allow Ukraine to use Storm Shadow missiles to attack deep into Russian territory.

British government sources say they are trying to make the most of the remaining time before the new US administration led by Donald Trump takes office.

However, this plan could cause tension in the relationship between the British Prime Minister and the new US President, as Mr. Trump could see this as an attempt to undermine US foreign policy.

The two leaders are expected to meet in Paris, on the occasion of the anniversary of the signing of the Compiegne Armistice - the document that ended World War I in 1918. The visit marks the first time a British Prime Minister has visited the French capital since 1944.

Meanwhile, The Times reported that Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk is actively lobbying to form an alliance with Britain and France to prevent the possibility of a separate agreement between former US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin on Ukraine.

Mr. Tusk is expected to hold talks with Prime Minister Starmer, President Macron and Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Mark Rutte to discuss the impact of the US election results on military aid to Ukraine.

"The current geopolitical situation is a serious challenge, especially given the possibility of a deal to end the conflict between Putin and the US president-elect," the Polish prime minister said, stressing that Ukraine's weakening or surrender is a "fundamental threat" to Poland.

Recently, Mr. Donald Trump Jr., son of US President-elect Donald Trump, posted an image on Instagram implying that his father would cut aid to Ukraine in 38 days.

On the side of President Joe Biden's administration, on November 10, US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said that the White House will spend the remaining $6 billion in funding commitment to Ukraine before the presidential inauguration in January 2025.

Speaking on CBS 's "Face the Nation," Sullivan said the Biden administration's main goal in the remaining months will be to "put Ukraine in the strongest possible position on the front so that they ultimately have the strongest possible position at the negotiating table."

In Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelensky recently declared that military force must go hand in hand with diplomacy to end the conflict and this is the only way to ensure that such a war does not recur in the future.

In a video address, Mr. Zelensky made it clear: "We understand very well that diplomacy has no prospects without power. But without a clear understanding of the diplomatic goals, weapons alone will not solve the problem. That is why military power and diplomacy must go hand in hand."
