Apple officially released iOS 26 for iPhone users on September 16, supporting iPhone 11 and iPhone SE 2nd generation and later.
iOS 26 brings the completely new Liquid Glass design language and many changes to the application interface, causing many iPhone users to immediately upgrade to the new platform as soon as it was released.

However, after updating iPhone to iOS 26 platform, many people have experienced the battery on their device draining faster than usual.
Sharing on social media platforms and on Apple's online support forum, many users said that after upgrading to iOS 26, their iPhones had shorter battery life than before even when fully charged. One user said that the iPhone's battery had dropped by 50% after only an hour and a half of normal use.
“After upgrading to the latest iOS 26, my iPhone's battery drained incredibly fast, losing 50% of its battery after just over an hour and a half of normal use. This has never happened to this phone before,” a Reddit user shared about the situation.
However, according to Apple, it is completely normal for iPhones to experience rapid battery drain after major software updates and is only a “temporary effect.”
In a notice on its support website, Apple said: “Immediately after completing an update, especially a major release, you may notice a temporary impact on battery life and device temperature. This is normal as your device needs time to complete setup in the background, including indexing data and files for search, downloading new content, and updating apps.
Depending on how an individual uses their device, some may notice a small impact on performance and/or battery life. Apple continually works to optimize these features in software updates to ensure long battery life and a smooth user experience.”
In short, after upgrading to a new iOS version, the user's iPhone will go through new setup processes for the platform itself and various applications, which will consume a lot of power and cause the battery to drain quickly.
This condition should resolve after about one to three days, once the setup process is complete.
