Apple Watch Ultra 2 coming soon?

The latest report from Bloomberg expert Mark Gurman says Apple is planning to introduce the Apple Watch Ultra 2 this fall, at the same time as the next generation iPhone series.

With the Apple Watch Ultra 2 launching later this year, Apple may be aiming to keep a similar release cycle to its regular watches. The original Apple Watch Ultra launched in September last year, so September would be the perfect time for the second-generation product to arrive.

However, previous rumors have suggested that Apple may take some time to finalize the second-generation Watch Ultra, which could push the product to market for at least another year. That’s entirely possible, as the Apple Watch Ultra isn’t a standard product, and Apple appears to be working on more advanced features for the product that will take longer to complete.

A previous report from Digitimes suggested a 2024 launch date. The Watch Ultra 2 will reportedly feature a 2.1-inch display, a significant upgrade from the 1.92-inch display on the original Watch Ultra. Apple may also consider switching display technology, using a microLED panel instead of OLED, which could result in a brighter display with vibrant color. Gurman also corroborated this information by saying that Apple has been expanding the use of microLED displays across its product lines, so it would be difficult to understand if the Watch Ultra 2 did not use this display.

Additionally, another reliable expert, Ross Young from DSCC, also said that the Apple Watch Ultra 2 switching to a microLED screen could become a reality, but that would only happen in 2025.
