Three meanings of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's attendance at the BRICS Conference in Russia

This was emphasized by Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Hang when answering the press before Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's working trip to attend the 2024 BRICS Leaders' Meeting.

The conference took place on October 23-24 in Kazan city, Russia, with the participation of leaders of BRICS members and leaders of more than 30 guest countries, including developing countries on the continents and a number of international organizations.

At the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin, the BRICS Chair in 2024, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will attend the Conference as a guest.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Hang affirmed that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's working trip to attend the expanded BRICS Summit is an important step in implementing Vietnam's foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization and diversification, showing that Vietnam is a friend, a reliable partner, and an active and responsible member of the international community.

Many important meanings of this business trip were also emphasized by Ms. Hang.

Firstly, the participation of the head of the Vietnamese Government at the expanded BRICS Conference with the theme "building a better future together" is a strong affirmation of Vietnam's proactive, positive and responsible spirit in solving common problems of humanity.

Along with active participation and contribution to the United Nations, ASEAN, APEC, G7, G20 mechanisms, etc. and many global economic cooperation and linkage initiatives, attending the BRICS Summit is a testament to Vietnam's commitment and responsibility to accompany countries in the international community.

This also aims to promote multilateralism, international solidarity and uphold the spirit of the rule of law, and raise the voices of developed countries in efforts to contribute to cultivating peace, promoting cooperation and development in the world.

Second, Vietnam's participation in discussions with major economies and new economies on emerging issues to contribute to building a better world continues to affirm Vietnam's position, role and stature in human development issues.

This, according to the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, also conveys the image of a peaceful, cooperative, developing, dynamic, innovative Vietnam, building an independent, self-reliant economy associated with deep and effective international integration, and mobilizing external resources to serve the country's development.

Third, Ms. Hang emphasized that through attending the conference, Vietnam will continue to promote and deepen cooperative relations with Russia and other countries. For Russia, this is the first working trip of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

“The working trip contributes to creating momentum for bilateral cooperation, promoting and opening up opportunities for substantive and effective cooperation between the two countries commensurate with the Vietnam-Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership,” Ms. Hang emphasized.

For the countries attending the conference, this is also an important opportunity to continue promoting bilateral relations in many fields as well as enhancing coordination at multilateral forums.

Emphasizing that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Vietnamese high-ranking delegation will actively participate and contribute responsibly at the Conference, Ms. Hang affirmed that this demonstrates the aspiration to rise of the Vietnamese people, from a country that has experienced so much pain, loss, and difficulty, and is now confidently entering an era of national rise.

This year's BRICS Summit includes a plenary session with the theme “BRICS and the Global South: Building a Better World Together”.

This theme affirms the focus and priority of the conference is to strengthen cooperation and coordination between BRICS and developing countries to join hands in building a better world for all people.

Accordingly, the leaders will focus on discussing solutions to promote economic growth, strengthen economic connectivity between BRICS and Southern Hemisphere countries, and enhance cooperation in responding to global challenges. “The goal and focus of the Conference is to strengthen cooperation for a better future,” the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized.
