According to CNN, some people clashed with police in front of Valencia City Hall. Ms. Anna Oliver, President of Accio Cultural del Pais Valenciano, one of about 30 groups organizing the protest, said: "We want to express our indignation and anger at the poor response to the disaster that has affected so many people."

In response to the situation, Valencia's leader said he would have issued an earlier warning if authorities had been informed of the severity of the situation by Spain's official flood monitoring agency.

"It takes time to hold officials accountable, but now is the time to clean up the streets and help people," Mr. Mazon also said.
