Specifically, on the evening of September 24, a landslide occurred on the Tien River bank, the landslide was about 150m long, about 15m deep inland, damaging 20 houses and losing the production land of households. Of these, 5 houses were completely eroded, the remaining houses were partially eroded.
According to Mr. Bui Quoc Nam, Chairman of Cao Lanh Ward People's Committee, the new landslide area is located along Tien River adjacent to the old landslide section, which has so far damaged dozens of houses along the river.
Currently, the local authorities have evacuated and relocated households and property in the landslide area to a safe place. At the same time, they have put up landslide warning signs and arranged forces on duty 24/7 to be ready to support and respond promptly. They will continue to monitor the current situation and provide timely information to the authorities to have quick response solutions to ensure the safety of people's lives and property.
Previously, on September 20, a landslide occurred in this area, the landslide went about 20m inland, about 100m long, damaging 7 houses.
Cao Lanh Ward People's Committee proposed the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dong Thap province and relevant agencies to advise the Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee to issue a decision to apply emergency measures to respond to and overcome landslides, and to fill in whirlpools in this area to limit further landslides.
Mr. Tran Tri Quang, Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee, requested the specialized sector and Cao Lanh Ward People's Committee to coordinate with the consulting unit to carefully survey the landslide area, and at the same time study local treatment measures, especially treatment of whirlpools and shore protection to urgently handle the landslide section and propose long-term solutions and treatment plans.
