Construction materials businesses strive to overcome difficulties

Việt NamViệt Nam17/09/2024

The impacts of the economic recession, reduced construction demand, weak consumption and most recently the severe damage caused by storm No. 3 are the main reasons why many construction material manufacturing and trading enterprises in the province are facing difficulties. Faced with this situation, enterprises have made efforts to implement solutions to ensure stable production and care for workers.

Brick and tile production at Dat Viet Ceramic Complex.

Since the beginning of the year, the consumption of construction materials of Dat Viet Ceramics Group has encountered many difficulties when construction activities in some foreign markets have slowed down, leading to a decrease in export revenue. Meanwhile, in the domestic market, the construction speed has decreased sharply, and customer tastes have also changed, no longer using many traditional tile products of 22 pieces/m2 as before. To maintain revenue, Dat Viet Ceramics Group has implemented a solution to increase human resources to find more domestic markets and customers. In addition, the unit has received support and sharing from employees through the form of sending their salaries back to the company to share the difficulties.

Ms. Le Thi Hai, Dat Viet Brick and Tile Joint Stock Company (Dat Viet Ceramics Complex), shared: We always try to complete all assigned tasks, sharing the joys and sorrows with the company, in which depositing savings into the company is also a specific action. This is something we do voluntarily, depositing and every year we get interest like depositing in a bank. More importantly, it helps the company in some difficult times, maintaining production.

According to Labor Hero Nguyen Quang Mau, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dat Viet Ceramics Group, although 2024 is a very difficult year for the construction materials market, this is also the year the unit can access and bring many products to spiritual and religious works nationwide, thereby also helping to reduce revenue. Currently, the unit is actively converting and producing new products that meet the needs of the works, thereby maintaining production and ensuring jobs for workers.

After storm No. 3, the Dat Viet Ceramics Complex suffered heavy damage, with many corrugated iron roofs at its factories blown off, flooding, and many old trees falling. The total damage was estimated at about 10 billion VND. However, the company has made efforts to overcome the damage and restarted its production line starting September 16.

In the province, there are currently 4 cement production enterprises and 26 brick and tile production enterprises that are all facing common difficulties in consumption and slow market, leading to difficulties in completing the plan and revenue in 2024. Currently, enterprises are trying to find customers and markets to consume products, flexibly apply sales policies, restructure production, etc. From there, avoid deep inventory, maintain production and ensure income for workers.

Lam Thach Cement Factory has returned to normal production after storm No. 3.

After the devastation of the recent storm No. 3, construction material manufacturing companies in the province all suffered heavy damage, affecting production, causing stagnation and loss of revenue. Typically, Quang Ninh Cement and Construction Joint Stock Company estimated direct damage due to storm No. 3 at about 13 billion VND. However, this figure did not stop at this number, during the time of no electricity, water, interrupted communication, production was stagnant, the company's revenue loss was about 5 billion VND per day. In addition, not providing products on time to foreign partners also caused the company to lose 2.3 billion VND/day. Up to now, Lam Thach Cement Factory has returned to normal production. Although there is still much to overcome, the company has determined to gradually overcome it while producing.

In addition to the efforts of each enterprise and the sharing of workers, construction material manufacturing enterprises are looking forward to policies to support enterprises affected by storm No. 3, stimulate domestic product consumption, promote construction investment, boost public investment, develop the real estate and housing market, reduce taxes, fees, charges, etc. to remove difficulties for construction material enterprises.
