Beware of the trick of impersonating water company employees to commit fraud

On September 10, Mr. Pham Phuoc Tai - General Director of Ca Mau Water Supply Joint Stock Company said that recently, the company has received many complaints from customers about the appearance of subjects impersonating company employees to commit fraud.

According to Mr. Pham Phuoc Tai, the method used by the subjects is to call customers claiming to be company employees, asking them to provide their ID cards and real estate documents to re-sign the water supply service contract with the promise of a discount on water bills; at the same time, threatening to stop supplying water if they do not comply.

Then, the subject lured customers to add Zalo friends or access fake links to sign online contracts.

In fact, these links contain malicious code; when customers access and declare information, personal data, especially bank accounts, will be at risk of being stolen.

Ca Mau Water Supply Joint Stock Company affirms that it does not send employees to contact customers privately via Zalo, text messages or ask them to access any links to sign online contracts or offer water price discounts through unofficial channels.

To ensure safety when using water supply services, the company recommends that customers: Do not provide ID cards, bank account numbers, passwords or OTP codes to phone numbers or links of unknown origin; especially do not make friends on Zalo with accounts claiming to be water supply staff but whose identities cannot be verified.

When detecting any unusual signs, customers should contact the company's phone number for timely support and answers.

Previously, Mr. Vo Minh Trang - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bac Lieu Water Supply Joint Stock Company (BLW) also said that since September 6, there has been a situation of impersonating the unit, calling customers to ask them to "re-sign water supply contracts" for the purpose of fraud.

After receiving feedback from the people, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bac Lieu Water Supply Joint Stock Company affirmed that in 2024 and the first months of 2025, the company's production and business activities will take place normally, achieving many positive results.

The company focuses on technology upgrade projects and improving service quality for customers. Therefore, the company does not have a policy of asking customers to "re-sign contracts" through direct transactions or online links. All contracts are automatically renewed on the system when due.

The company recommends that customers absolutely do not click on strange links, do not provide personal information or bank accounts when receiving suspicious messages, calls, or emails.

When detecting signs of fraud, people need to quickly report to the police to protect themselves and the community.
