Initial information, at around 7:00 p.m. on February 24, residents living on Nguyen Van Tra Street (Vinh Loc B Commune, Binh Chanh District) discovered that 3 adjacent wood, plastic and helmet factories were on fire, so they shouted and tried to put out the fire.

Due to the combustible materials, the fire broke out fiercely and spread rapidly. The fire created a column of smoke dozens of meters high, leaving the on-site fire fighting force helpless. Fearing the fire spreading and smoke inhalation, households living in the surrounding area had to evacuate and move to nearby fields to take refuge.

Upon receiving the news, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of Ho Chi Minh City Police mobilized many vehicles and officers and soldiers to the scene to put out the fire. Part of Nguyen Van Tra Street was blocked. The power system was temporarily cut off to serve the fire fighting work.

By 10pm the same day, the fire was basically under control. Although the fire did not cause any human casualties, it did burn down and damage many properties of the 3 factories.

The cause and specific damage figures are being clarified by the authorities.
