Appointing comrade Nguyen Van Nen to hold the position of new Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee

After the establishment of the new Ho Chi Minh City, the Politburo appointed comrade Nguyen Van Nen, Politburo member, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee (old), to hold the position of Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee (new), term 2020-2025; along with 4 new Deputy Secretaries of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee.

On June 30, the City Party Committee - People's Council - People's Committee - Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City held a ceremony to announce the Resolutions and Decisions of the Central and local governments on merging provincial and commune-level administrative units, ending the operation of district-level administrative units, establishing Party organizations, appointing Party committees, People's Councils, People's Committees, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees of Ho Chi Minh City, communes, wards, and special zones.

Attending the ceremony were comrades: General Secretary To Lam; Nguyen Minh Triet, former Politburo member, former President ; Nguyen Van Nen, Politburo member, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee.

Also attending the announcement ceremony were Party Central Committee members, former Party Central Committee members; leaders, former leaders of Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong province, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province; Secretaries of affiliated Party Committees and Secretaries of Party Committees of communes, wards, and special zones...

At the ceremony, after announcing the Ho Chi Minh City Party Executive Committee and the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Organization Commission Nguyen Quang Duong announced the Politburo's decision to appoint comrade Nguyen Van Nen, Politburo member, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee (old), to hold the position of Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee (new), term 2020-2025.

Along with that, the Politburo appointed 4 comrades to hold the position of Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee (new), term 2020-2025 including:

Comrade Nguyen Thanh Nghi, member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee (old) holds the position of Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee (new), term 2020-2025.

The new Deputy Secretaries of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term include: Comrade Nguyen Van Duoc, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee (to be appointed to hold the position of Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee (new), term 2021-2026); Comrade Vo Van Minh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee (to be appointed to hold the position of Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council (new), term 2021-2026); Comrade Nguyen Phuoc Loc, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City.

The Politburo has decided to appoint the new Ho Chi Minh City Party Executive Committee for the 2020-2025 term, consisting of 107 comrades; the new Ho Chi Minh City Party Standing Committee, consisting of 27 comrades.
