President of Vietnam Boxing Federation 'missing': Still invited to online meeting, VBF reports to Ministry of Home Affairs

Mr. Liu Xiubao was invited to an online meeting after an unusual absence.

The meeting took place in the context that Mr. Tu Bao is said to have not directly managed VBF for more than 6 months. The VBF President was unusually absent. According to information from members of the VBF Standing Committee, Mr. Luu Tu Bao, currently living in the US, left Vietnam at the end of February 2025.

Since then, he has completely failed to appear at any official meetings or events of the federation. This has led to a long-term "vacancy in the top leadership position", which could affect the national boxing development plans and strategies.

In previous conversations, Mr. Bao mentioned that he would be absent for a while and delegate the authority to the Standing Committee to manage the work.

However, up to now, he still has not had any official written announcement or time to return to VBF.

The President of the Vietnam Boxing Federation was absent from the urgent online meeting on September 4.

Urgent meeting: Prepare report to Ministry of Interior

Faced with the above situation, the VBF Standing Committee held an urgent meeting to re-evaluate the entire incident and propose a solution.

The prolonged absence of the head of VBF without official notice may violate the organization's charter as well as affect the reputation of VBF.

One of the proposed options is to report the entire incident to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the agency that manages professional social organizations, to ask for guidance and consider holding an extraordinary congress to elect a new chairman if Mr. Liu Xiubao cannot continue to serve in his role.
