Linking and effectively exploiting potential

In recent years, Thai Nguyen and Bac Kan provinces (before the merger) have implemented many flexible solutions to make tourism an important economic sector, such as inviting investors, encouraging people with tourist attractions to participate in tourism, and developing new products. In particular, members of the Provincial Tourism Association have actively participated, contributing to the successful implementation of the province's tourism development goals.

It is noted that over the past 5 years, the Tourism Association of the two provinces has achieved many successes thanks to the effective exploitation of tourism resources, focusing on resort and ecological tourism associated with history, culture and spirituality.

Thanks to open mechanisms and policies, the province has attracted many large projects, especially in Nui Coc Lake, the eastern slope of Tam Dao, Ba Be Lake, and the ATK Dinh Hoa National Special Relic Site. Many large-scale projects such as the 5-star Nui Coc Lake resort and the Dai Phuc commune golf course have attracted capable investors to participate.

Currently, the whole province has nearly 1,200 historical, cultural, scenic and about 700 intangible cultural heritages. Many red addresses attract a large number of people, domestic and international tourists, such as the National Historical Relic Site at the memorial site of the 915th Company, 91st Bac Thai team, or the Special National Relic Site of Thai Nguyen province.

Besides historical and cultural relics, the "First Famous Tea" Thai Nguyen also owns famous landscapes such as Nui Coc Lake, Ba Be Lake, Phuong Hoang Cave, Than Sa archaeological site and destinations recognized by the Provincial People's Committee.

Each historical site, scenic spot and intangible cultural heritage is an invaluable resource for tourism development, and the more it is exploited, the more its value will be enriched. Through tourists, cultural values are widely spread.

An attractive point for tourists when coming to Thai Nguyen is that during their stay, sightseeing, and sightseeing, tourists are not "ripped off". At the peak of the year, most members of the Tourism Association register to participate in the stimulus program, reducing room rates and gifts from 10% to 25%.

In order to improve the quality of tourism services, members of the Provincial Tourism Association proactively invest in upgrading facilities and coordinate with functional agencies to organize training and improve professional skills for staff.

According to the statistics compiled by the Tourism Management Department (Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism), the province currently has 785 accommodation establishments, including 9 3-star hotels, 7 2-star hotels, 3 1-star hotels, 73 hotels meeting minimum standards for serving guests, 521 tourist motels, more than 120 houses with rooms for rent and more than 100 restaurants with large capacity, many of which are high-quality restaurants with capacity to serve groups of 1,000 guests at the same time.

Many new accommodations have captivated tourists by their names, such as: Hai Dang Homestay; Mr. Hung Man Homestay; Suoi Mo Guesthouse… in Bo Lu and Coc Toc villages, Ba Be commune.

Ba Be Lake is one of the ideal destinations chosen by many tourists when coming to Thai Nguyen.

Sharing with us, Mr. Dong Van Loi, Director of Dong Loi Cooperative, Na Chom village, Dong Phuc commune, said: We have a new tourism product which is to organize for tourists to experience Then singing and Tinh lute on rafts and rafts on Ta Leng river. The journey takes tourists downstream from Hua Ma cave to Ba Be lake.

Ms. Dam Quynh Mai, owner of Quynh Mai Homestay, Bo Lu village, Ba Be commune, said: We do tourism based on the traditional cultural values of our ethnic groups. Tourists are very excited to experience working with the locals in the fields, picking wild vegetables, fishing; in the evening, coming home to cook together by the fire, drinking rice wine, listening to sli singing, luon singing, then singing...

Towards sustainable development

In the past 5 years, the tourism industry of Thai Nguyen and Bac Kan provinces (before the merger) has welcomed nearly 19 million visitors, bringing in total revenue of nearly 16 trillion VND. Although the revenue is not much, tourism has affirmed its important role in the economic development of the province.

When the Tourism Associations of the two provinces merged, many new opportunities were opened thanks to the rich tourism resources. In particular, tourism businesses in the province cooperated and reached consensus in caring for and serving tourists.

Exploratory and experiential tourism in caves and streams in the province is increasingly attracting a large number of adventurous tourists.

Mr. Nguyen Tung Lam, Head of Tourism Management Department, said: The members of the Tourism Association joining hands will create greater synergy. The image of the homeland and people of Thai Nguyen will be more widely promoted to friends at home and abroad...

After the province merger, Thai Nguyen Tourism Association now has 198 members. The members create jobs with stable income for thousands of workers. The tourism businesses and establishments in the province are basically strong enough to meet the needs of sightseeing and experience of tourists from different lands around the world.

Sharing his experience in tourism with the Thai Nguyen Provincial Tourism Association, Mr. Ha Van Sieu, Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, emphasized: To develop sustainably, the Tourism Association needs to have a practical orientation, suitable to local characteristics, focusing on improving service quality and increasing total revenue, instead of following the majority in the industry.

As the Head of the Viet Bac Province Tourism Cluster, Thai Nguyen Tourism Association has signed many cooperation agreements with dozens of tourism associations across the country. Traditional and new connections have opened up opportunities to exchange visitors and share experiences, helping each member to be steadfast on the development journey. Beautiful images of Thai Nguyen land and people are carried by tourists everywhere, in which important contributions belong to the members of the Provincial Tourism Association.

Tours and tourism routes linking the Viet Bac - Northeast region and from many provinces and cities across the country to Thai Nguyen are being strongly promoted. The Provincial Tourism Association has successfully connected potential markets such as ASEAN, Northeast Asia and Europe. Facing new opportunities, Mr. Do Trong Hiep shared: "If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together. Members of the Provincial Tourism Association have been holding hands to go further together."
