On November 11, information from Tuyen Quang General Hospital said that doctors there had just saved the life of a patient with penetrating wounds to the heart and liver.
Accordingly, patient D.VP (38 years old, residing in Yen Son district, Tuyen Quang) was brought to the hospital with cold hands and feet, sweating, pale mucous membranes, moderate abdominal distension, 3 chest wounds, each wound about 3-5cm in size... prognosis is critical.

Dr. Pham Thanh Thinh - Deputy Head of General Surgery Department, Tuyen Quang Provincial General Hospital said that the patient was stabbed 3 times by a sharp object in the chest and sternum, 5-6 rib cartilages were broken, there was 1 heart wound and 2 liver wounds on the left side.
Immediately, the patient underwent emergency surgery. During the surgery, the surgical team performed a left pleural drainage - opened the chest, and found a wound through the pericardium causing a perforation of the right atrium, approximately 4cm in size, along with approximately 300ml of blood clot.
Doctors proceeded to clean the blood clot in the pericardium, suture the wound in the right atrium to stop the bleeding, preserve the right coronary artery branches as much as possible, wash, place a pericardial drain, suture the costal cartilage - sternum, and suture the chest wall wound.
Along with that, the left liver examination showed two wounds about 7cm and 5cm in size, penetrating from above to the lower surface of segments II, III and IV, penetrating into the upper border of the pancreas, about 0.5cm in size.
The team proceeded to suture the liver wounds to stop bleeding, suture the upper border of the pancreas, restore the diaphragm, wash the abdomen, place an abdominal drain and close the incisions according to the anatomical layer. During and after the surgery, the patient received 8 additional units of blood.
Currently, after 2 days of surgery, the patient is gradually stabilizing, alert, able to eat and drink, continuing active treatment and closely monitoring his general condition at the hospital.
