Information from Trung Vuong Hospital (HCMC) said that the hospital has just actively treated a 20-year-old female patient who was seriously injured in a traffic accident.

According to Dr. Nguyen Thien Binh (Head of the Department of Intensive Care - Anti-Poison - Trung Vuong Hospital), a 20-year-old female patient was in a traffic accident where a 7-seat car ran over her, causing her heart to constrict, her lungs to constrict, bilateral pneumothorax, and traumatic brain injury.

Previously, on the way home from work, the patient collided with a 7-seat car and was run over, and was taken to Tan Phu District Hospital (HCMC) for emergency treatment.

Here, the patient with respiratory failure should be intubated by doctors and undergo paraclinical tests. Due to the serious condition, the patient was transferred to Trung Vuong Hospital.

At Trung Vuong Hospital, the patient had a cardiac arrest, so doctors raised the red alert. After that, the patient was resuscitated, a right pleural drainage tube was placed, and a full-body CT scan was performed.

The results showed that the patient had traumatic brain injury, lung contusion causing pneumothorax, lung consolidation, heart contusion, pneumoperitoneum, and fracture of the first rib...

The patient was transferred to the emergency operating room with the presence of interdisciplinary specialists including: Anesthesia, resuscitation, emergency, thoracic surgery, vascular, general, diagnostic imaging, etc. The patient was resuscitated by the team, treated against cerebral edema, given vasopressors, and ventilated to protect the lungs.

After intensive treatment, the patient fully recovered consciousness, breathing improved, and was removed from the ventilator.

The patient is now responding well, eating and breathing on his own, but because his heart enzymes are still slightly elevated, he was transferred to the Cardiology Department for monitoring. It is expected that the patient will be discharged in the next few days.
