Phong Dien Commune is one of the areas with many rivers and canals, so ensuring the safe operation of the power grid system is a focus of the Phong Dien Power Management Team. Mr. Phan Trong Trang, Team Leader of the Phong Dien Power Management Team, said: The Team is managing 690km of medium and low voltage lines along with 449 distribution transformer stations, supplying electricity to more than 35,000 customers in Phong Dien, Nhon Ai, Truong Long communes and part of An Binh ward (formerly My Khanh commune). To ensure stable power supply during the rainy season, the Phong Dien Power Management Team strengthens technical inspection and grid safety; combines promoting propaganda work, instructing customers to implement electrical safety measures in many forms. Specifically: Assigning officers and workers of the Team to distribute leaflets along with a Handbook on safe electricity use to households living near power grid corridors or along rivers, canals, residential areas, etc.

As one of the households living near the riverbank in My Loc area, An Binh ward (formerly My Khanh commune), Mr. Pham Van Tu said: "Thanks to the Electricity Department staff coming to my house to distribute leaflets along with the Handbook on safe electricity use, I understand and know many ways to use electricity in the house more safely to prevent and avoid incidents that cause electrical short circuits, helping to protect my family, especially during the rainy and stormy season...".

To proactively prevent and avoid electrical incidents and accidents occurring among people during the rainy and stormy season, the Electricity sector has deployed many forms of propaganda, guiding people to use electricity safely through social networking channels such as Facebook, the customer care app of the Southern Power Corporation (EVNSPC); organizing the distribution of leaflets, hanging banners and posters with many slogans about electrical safety in crowded places such as markets, schools, entertainment areas; directly propagating to households living near or in the corridor of high-voltage power grids...

Mr. Nguyen Cong Luc, Head of Safety Department, Can Tho City Electricity Company, said: To ensure electrical safety, the Electricity industry recommends that people regularly check the electrical equipment being used in the house to promptly detect and replace damaged or old equipment or electrical lines to avoid the risk of electrical incidents. When it rains heavily and water floods into the house, people should completely cut off the power source in the house such as circuit breakers, main circuit breakers and not touch any electrical equipment when their hands are wet; turn off all power sources to electrical equipment installed outdoors, such as signs, billboards, decorative lights, etc. when it rains heavily and is accompanied by strong winds. Households should install additional anti-shock circuit breakers to prevent electrical fires; if they discover broken electrical wires falling to the ground, people must immediately report to the nearest local electricity company; Actively coordinate with local electricity agencies to cut and trim trees within the power grid safety corridor to avoid electrical incidents that may occur during storms, tornadoes, etc.

In addition, the Electricity industry recommends that people, when constructing houses, works, or installing billboards within or near the power grid safety corridor, must contact the nearest local power company or call the EVNSPC Customer Care Center via 2 numbers: 19001006 - 19009000 to receive advice and instructions on how to properly implement electrical safety measures.
