While working as a construction worker, the father was moved when he heard the news that his son was valedictorian.

Ngo Bao Chau, from Viem Tay 2 block, Dien Thang Bac ward, Dien Ban town, Quang Nam (former student of class 12/3, Nguyen Khuyen High School, Dien Ban town) said that he still cannot believe that he is the valedictorian of the 2024 high school graduation exam in Quang Nam province.

Ngo Bao Chau's total graduation exam scores were 55.25 (math 8; literature 9.5; geography 9.75; history 9.75; civics 9.25; English 9). In block C, Ngo Bao Chau scored 29 points.

Chau is the second child in a family of 4 sisters. Her father is a bricklayer and her mother is a small local trader, so her income is just enough to make ends meet. Knowing that her parents work hard all year round, throughout her 12 years of high school, Bao Chau has always been self-disciplined and made constant efforts in her studies and has been an excellent student.

Chau is very independent, she also just won 3rd prize in the provincial geography competition.

"The high score in the exam made me quite surprised and happy. I also expected to get good results but didn't think I would be the province's valedictorian," Bao Chau shared.

To get those scores, Bao Chau must focus on mastering the knowledge in the textbooks, try to solve many types of questions, and not be distracted when studying. In addition, she always maintains the habit of reading books every day, which not only helps her relax, but is also very beneficial for studying literature.

"I don't have any secret. The main thing is to try to study by myself and solve many types of questions, which will help me find my mistakes and fix them. I want to apply to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in Ho Chi Minh City," Bao Chau said.

Sharing with us over the phone, Mr. Ngo Van Son could not hide his emotion and pride when he heard that his daughter had achieved high scores. Mr. Son said that the family did not put much emphasis on Bao Chau's studies, mainly relying on her self-discipline.

Bao Chau is still a quiet, modest girl, so he doesn't dare to brag too much, but he is very proud that his daughter is very good and obedient to her parents.

"Chau is a girl with strong opinions and a high level of independence. My husband and I have never had to worry much about her. We mainly create conditions for her to study, encourage her and take care of her," said Mr. Son.

Teacher Nguyen Thi Kieu Anh, homeroom teacher of class 12/3, shared that she was very happy that her class had a student with such good results as Bao Chau. With her tireless efforts over the past time, Bao Chau completely deserved this result.

"Bao Chau is a good student, very smart but also very modest. She is good at all subjects, not just block C. Bao Chau has a very proactive learning spirit. If she has any doubts, she proactively asks the teachers for explanations, even outside of class time," said Ms. Anh.
