The Fourth Dong Trieu War Zone - Where Uncle Ho's footsteps remain

On the occasion of the Lunar New Year of At Ty 1965, during his last visit to Quang Ninh province, Uncle Ho stopped at Pham Hong Thai Commune School, Dong Trieu District (now Hong Thai Tay Secondary School, Dong Trieu City), to meet teachers, students and people here. Over the past 60 years, Uncle Ho's special attention has always been present, encouraging and motivating teachers and students of the school in particular, cadres, party members, and people of all ethnic groups in Dong Trieu in general, to make efforts, strive to rise up, and build the young city of Dong Trieu to develop sustainably.

Every year, on the days before Lunar New Year, teachers and students of Hong Thai Tay Secondary School go to the Uncle Ho Memorial Historical Site located at the school to burn incense and report to Uncle Ho. In front of Uncle Ho's statue, teachers and students of the school reported on the outstanding achievements they had made in the past school year along with the promise and determination to compete in teaching well and studying well according to Uncle Ho's instructions when coming to school in the past. The images and memorabilia associated with Uncle Ho at the Relic Site are a vivid historical lesson, not only arousing love for the country, deep respect for the father of the nation, but also promoting the learning and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style in each generation of cadres, teachers and students of Hong Thai Tay Secondary School in particular, and the Party Committee, government and people of Dong Trieu City in general.

Teacher Nguyen Ngoc Thanh, Principal of Hong Thai Tay Secondary School, confided: Although we are the next generation and did not have the chance to meet Uncle Ho directly on the occasion of Tet At Ty 1965, through the stories told by our predecessors, we felt the joy, honor and pride of the school's teachers and students when they welcomed Uncle Ho back to visit. Our predecessors recounted that after visiting the school, asking about the hometown, health, family and work of the teachers, Uncle praised the collective of teachers of the school for their orderly, simple and clean living conditions. On the occasion of the New Year, Uncle sent his best wishes to the elders, aunts, uncles, teachers and children in Dong Trieu district for a new year of good health, good production, fighting and studying. Those words of encouragement and advice at that time were the motivation for the school's staff, teachers and students through generations to strive year after year, achieving excellent results in teaching and learning.

Proud to be the school where Uncle Ho visited, over the years, generations of cadres, teachers and students of Hong Thai Tay Secondary School have always strived to strive in teaching and learning. Every year, the school has excellent students at the city and provincial levels; the rate of students graduating from secondary school is 100%; the rate of teachers with standard qualifications is 94.7%. The school has been continuously recognized as an "Excellent Labor Collective" for many years, achieved level 2 education quality accreditation and achieved level 1 National Standards.

Ceremony to announce the establishment of Dong Trieu city

Although 60 years have passed, his image remains intact in the hearts of every cadre, party member, and people of Hong Thai Tay commune in particular, and the Dong Trieu City Party Committee in general. Deputy Head of the Propaganda Department of the Dong Trieu City Party Committee Nguyen Van Linh affirmed: Studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality, and style has been carried out synchronously by the City Party Committee with the highest political determination, becoming a regular task of each Party Committee, Party organization, cadre, party member, and civil servant. In the period of 2021-2025, the city registered nearly 200 typical collective and individual models in "Studying and following Uncle Ho". Awareness, sense of responsibility, exemplary character of cadres and party members, especially leaders and managers, leaders in work and in life, in cultivating, training, preserving moral qualities, lifestyle, and working style of the team of cadres, party members, civil servants, and workers have been raised, increasingly meeting the requirements of the task. His advice is a compass for the Party Committee, government and people of the city, creating motivation for the Party Committee, government and people of Dong Trieu city to strive to move forward.

Over the past 60 years, Dong Trieu has continuously grown strongly. From a land rich in historical traditions, Dong Trieu today has transformed strongly, becoming a young city with aspirations to reach far. The young city is full of vitality with new constructions, modern urban areas, many invested and built arterial roads, and fertile fields of model new rural areas. The quality of people's lives is increasingly improved, the city currently has no poor households according to the province's criteria. Dong Trieu continues to lead the province in comprehensive and key education... In 2024, despite being heavily affected by storm Yagi, Dong Trieu achieved an economic growth rate of 14.2%, the 4th year of implementing budget autonomy. The Party Committee, government and people of the city were honored to receive the First Class Labor Medal from the President.

The establishment of Dong Trieu City marked an important milestone for the Party, government, army and people of this land of talented people and rich revolutionary tradition. Keeping in mind Uncle Ho's teachings, with the desire for development and a new mindset and position, Dong Trieu is determined to successfully achieve the set goals, striving to become a dynamic urban area for the development of the western region of the province, a model of urban development in harmony between industry, services and modern agriculture. Dong Trieu is ready to reach out, together with other localities in the province, firmly entering a new era - the era of national development.
