The benchmark score for grade 6 of Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School in the first year of enrollment was 67.5/100.

The entrance exam for grade 6 at Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School took place on July 4 with more than 4,300 students participating, while the enrollment target was 350. There were many candidates but the target was low, leading to a "competition" ratio of up to 1:12.

This is the first year the school enrolls 6th grade students, after being separated from the former Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted.

Candidates can view their 6th grade exam scores at Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School on the website of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City.

Contestants are students who have completed primary school in Ho Chi Minh City, with a final exam score of 9 or higher in each subject of Vietnamese and Math for grade 5.

The school's 6th grade exam consists of two parts: essay and multiple choice, in both English and Vietnamese. Time limit is 90 minutes.

The English section has 20 multiple choice questions testing knowledge of Natural Sciences , Social Sciences, and common sense. The essay section includes English (listening, reading - comprehension, writing), Math thinking, and Reading - comprehension - writing.

Based on the exam scores, admission is taken from top to bottom.
