According to the 2025 benchmark announcement of the University of Science (Ho Chi Minh City National University), with the method of considering the capacity assessment test scores of Ho Chi Minh City National University, the Computer Science major (advanced program) has a score of 1,136/1,200.

In 2024, the benchmark score for this industry is 1,052, this year it increased to 84 points.

This is an unprecedented high standard score and is especially higher than the score of the valedictorian achieved in this exam.

The 2025 capacity assessment exam of Ho Chi Minh City National University attracted more than 152,000 candidates with a total of more than 223,000 entries in both exam sessions.

The entire exam had more than 1,500 candidates with an average score of 1024.54 points, more than 1,500 students achieved an average score of 986.41 points. The top scorer in this exam achieved a score of 1,122 points/1,200 points.

Thus, in terms of scores, the valedictorian of this exam lacked 14 points to be admitted to the Computer Science major (advanced program) at the University of Natural Sciences in Ho Chi Minh City.

A representative of the University of Natural Sciences (Ho Chi Minh City National University) said that the valedictorian's score was lower than the standard score because the standard score included both the basic bonus points and the priority points according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training .

The capacity assessment test score includes priority bonus points according to the Ministry's regulations along with basic bonus points.

This bonus score increases the benchmark score because the bonus score is quite high, from 30 to 80 points for candidates with less than 1,120 points. For candidates with higher scores, the bonus score is limited according to the prescribed formula.

Due to bonus points, many candidates scored higher than the valedictorian.

In other methods such as priority admission and graduation scores, there are also regulations on adding other priority points.

Candidates who are awarded additional base points are those with high achievements in domestic and international exams at both city and national levels or those studying at high schools on the priority admission list according to regulations of Ho Chi Minh City National University.

The priority points added according to regulations shall not exceed 10% of the total score.

It is known that with the capacity assessment test score at Ho Chi Minh City National University, the priority score for region 2 is 10 points, for rural region 2 is 20 points and for region 1, the priority score is 30 points.

There are two priority groups including priority group 1 with 80 points and priority group 2 with 40 points.

With this new scoring method and the priority score, this year the benchmark score for assessing capacity at some universities, especially at member schools of Ho Chi Minh City National University, is very high.

For example, at the University of Natural Sciences (Ho Chi Minh City National University), in addition to Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence has a benchmark score of 1,092; Data Science group has 1,019 points; Microchip Design has 1,002 points.
