Support for the needy

From support gifts, small livelihoods to spacious charity houses, grassroots organizations have given people more confidence to overcome difficulties and stabilize their lives.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hoai Bao, Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Dien Ban Tay commune, said that the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune coordinated with associations and organizations to launch and maintain the model "Rich households help poor households" for the period 2024 - 2029.

Through the program, residential areas donated 54 million VND, presented 8 breeding cows worth 116 million VND, 3 sets of tables and chairs worth 7 million VND, supported the repair of 3 solidarity houses with a total value of 30 million VND and built 2 new houses worth 130 million VND.

Up to now, the commune has handed over 2 new Great Unity houses and 2 repaired houses to poor and disadvantaged households with a total cost of 160 million VND. In addition, the locality has also donated means of livelihood to farmer and women members with a total amount of 9 million VND.

In Thanh Khe ward, Ms. Vo Thi Ngoc Nhung, Chairwoman of the ward Women's Union, said that to help poor households escape poverty and stabilize their economy , the spirit of "mutual love and support" is always strongly promoted.

Not only stopping at relief and humanitarian activities, the ward also promptly supports poor and near-poor households and families affected by natural disasters, epidemics, accidents or serious illnesses.

For example, the association has just coordinated with the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development ( Agribank ) to organize the groundbreaking ceremony to build a Great Unity house for Mr. Le Van Hao's household (residing in group 10), a household in especially difficult circumstances.

One of the creative fundraising models to support the poor is the “Green House” in Phu Thuan commune. These are containers for plastic bottles, cans, and cardboard boxes initiated by the Commune Women’s Union.

Accordingly, after the “green houses” are full, members will sort and sell scrap to raise funds. Although the amount is not large, it is used effectively, helping hundreds of members in need and poor children.

From this fund, the association has sponsored two orphans with quarterly support of 600,000 VND/child, and given hundreds of gifts to support women and children in special circumstances.

Models such as “Green House”, livelihood support, building charity houses… not only bring material value but also contain humanistic meaning, adding motivation for the disadvantaged to overcome difficulties and rise up.

The support of the government and organizations is a solid foundation, contributing to building a rich, beautiful and humane city.
