Suspending a teacher in Ho Chi Minh City who slapped a child during mealtime

Specifically, video extracted from a kindergarten camera at the end of March shows that after lunch, only 2-3 students were still sitting at the dining table, and this teacher sat in a corner hidden from the camera to feed the remaining students.

During that time, the teacher continuously made direct impacts on the student, then stood up and walked out. About 1 minute later, the teacher returned and continued to hit the student in the face, even pushing his head causing the student (possibly) to fall backwards.

In another video, while feeding another student, the child vomited and the teacher pressed the child's head down to make him vomit into the bowl of food and then fed the student again.

Mr. Luong Trong Binh, Deputy Head of the Department of Education and Training of District 3 confirmed that the incident occurred at Kindergarten 4 (District 3). Currently, this teacher is being handled by the school according to the regulations on disciplinary action against teachers and civil servants. This teacher has been suspended from teaching since April 3.

Mr. Binh also added that this teacher is pregnant, so care must be taken in disciplining her. For the affected student, the school has also visited the student’s home and apologized to the parents.

The Department will also have a detailed report to the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City and relevant departments and branches about this incident.
