On the afternoon of October 4, after nearly 2 hours of competition in the women's volleyball quarter-final match at the 19th ASIAD, the Vietnamese team convincingly defeated the North Korean team 3-1 and for the first time in history won the right to enter the semi-finals of the ASIAD women's volleyball.

In an interview with the press after the match, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet commented that, in terms of technical skills, North Korea is not a weak team. In the first two rounds, the Vietnamese team did a good job of breaking the opponent's first step, thereby helping the tactical strikers run effectively.
However, in the third set, Vietnam's setters defended poorly, and North Korea used many tactical moves, so the Vietnamese players had to follow too much and lost energy.
According to coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet, after 4 years, the Vietnamese team met North Korea again in an official tournament. A day before this match, the Vietnamese team had to travel to the stadium to watch the North Korean team play live because the team had no information about the other team.
The volleyball coach added that another difficulty at ASIAD 19 was that the Vietnamese team did not have a cameraman or statistician, but the whole team played very well.
Referring to the match against China tomorrow (October 5), Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet affirmed that he will deploy a reasonable strategy. The Vietnamese women's volleyball team will certainly not exert all their strength in this competition to best prepare for the cross-match, which will directly affect the ability to compete for medals at the 19th ASIAD.
Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet also said that since the beginning of the year, including ASIAD, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team has participated in 12 tournaments. In many matches, the Vietnamese team had to play more than 3 sets but their health and physical strength were still guaranteed thanks to the team having its own physical trainer.
Meanwhile, captain Thanh Thuy shared that she was not really satisfied with her personal performance in the match that just ended, but was very pleased with the fighting spirit of her teammates.
Although facing some difficulties in set 3, the whole team tried to quickly regain their spirit and encouraged each other to win the final victory.
