Australian tourist accused of being 'ripped off' 1.2 million VND for cyclo ride to visit Hanoi's Old Quarter, police intervene

Hoan Kiem Ward Police took action against two cyclo drivers who overcharged foreign tourists up to 1.2 million VND for a tour of Hanoi's Old Quarter.

Accordingly, at around 4:00 p.m. on September 22, Hoan Kiem Ward Police, Hanoi City received a report from Mr. Phillip Damien (Australian nationality) about being "ripped off" by two cyclo drivers for 1.2 million VND for a tour around the Old Quarter.

The working group of Hoan Kiem Ward Police, Hanoi City quickly verified that the people involved in the incident were Mr. NVB (born in 1974, residing in Son Nam Commune, Hung Yen Province) and NVH (born in 1986, residing in An Khanh Commune, Hanoi).

At the police station, the two cyclo drivers apologized and returned the entire amount of 1.2 million VND to Mr. Phillip Damien. The male tourist accepted the apology, received the full amount back and had no other requests or requests.

Hoan Kiem Ward Police, Hanoi City has drawn up a record and requested Mr. NVB and NVH to commit not to charge more than the current regulated price.
