Binh Dinh tourism achieves revenue of 15,000 billion VND: 'There is a basis for calculation'

According to Mr. Tran Van Thanh - Director of the Department of Tourism of Binh Dinh province, in the first 6 months of the year, the total number of tourists to this province reached 5.6 million (an increase of more than 106%), with estimated revenue reaching 15,000 billion VND (an increase of 96.9% over the same period in 2023).

Compared to the same period of previous years, this is the first time Binh Dinh province has achieved a record high number of visitors and revenue.

Explaining this leap in growth, Mr. Thanh shared that recently Binh Dinh has successfully organized a series of major events: Amazing Binh Dinh Week, Aquabike World Championship, F1H2O World Championship and Teqball World Championship 2024... These are events that attract domestic and foreign tourists to Binh Dinh.

Mr. Thanh said that there are two types of tourists coming to the province: visitors and guests staying.

Guests are reported by the General Statistics Office and the Department of Tourism from accommodation establishments.

As for tourists, they also take the fee based on the number of guests staying and visiting places in Binh Dinh province.

"For example, if the whole province has 400,000 overnight guests, this number will definitely visit tourist attractions once and will be counted in the number of visitors to add to the total number of tourists to Binh Dinh.

In addition, there are also some visitors from the province who go to tourist attractions to play and visit and then return home the same day. These numbers are not imaginary at all and have a basis for calculation," Mr. Thanh said.

The money is in the people's hands, the government doesn't collect much.

Meanwhile, answering the question of how much the State collects from tourists of 15,000 billion VND, Mr. Thanh said that the above amount is a statistic based on the tourism industry's contribution project to the province's economy and approved by the province.

For example, a tourist coming to Binh Dinh will spend money on food, accommodation, transportation, sightseeing, etc. The Department will calculate and multiply. In that month, the number of visitors will be multiplied accordingly.

"Most of this 15,000 billion VND is now in the hands of the people, the State does not collect much. Because visitors to Binh Dinh have to travel long distances from all over the province, they spend sporadic amounts so it is impossible to calculate specifically how much the State collects," Mr. Thanh shared.
