Through extracurricular activities, life skills education, legal propaganda sessions, mock trials, etc., students are equipped with professional knowledge, life skills, awareness of law compliance, and a sense of responsibility towards the community. This is an important foundation for building a healthy, friendly school environment that is not exploited or lured by bad people.
Equipping legal knowledge for students
In recent times, the situation of students being taken advantage of, lured into committing illegal acts or becoming victims of crimes has been quite common. Especially recently, the issue of students being “kidnapped online” has been receiving a lot of public attention.
Provincial police organized legal propaganda at Bui Thi Xuan Primary, Secondary and High School (Tam Hiep ward). |
For example, on September 19, Xuan Lap Ward Police, Dong Nai Province, coordinated with Thuan Giao Ward Police ( Ho Chi Minh City) to promptly prevent an "online kidnapping", contributing to ensuring security and order in the area. Specifically, after receiving information about a 20-year-old girl renting a motel showing signs of being controlled by a cybercriminal, the police force quickly conducted an inspection. Through verification, the victim was identified as Ms. LHO (20 years old, from Dong Thap Province), currently a student at a university in Ho Chi Minh City, renting a room at a motel in Xuan Lap Ward. Immediately after that, the police promptly rescued Ms. O., ensuring the victim's safety and preventing the crime.
Faced with this situation, the provincial and local police forces have stepped up propaganda, dissemination and legal education. For example, on the afternoon of September 22, Dong Phu Traffic Police Station (under the Traffic Police Department of Dong Nai Provincial Police) organized propaganda on traffic order and safety laws for 720 students of Dong Tien Secondary and High School (Dong Tam Commune, Dong Nai Province).
Through the propaganda session, traffic police officers disseminated basic regulations of the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety; provided guidance on safe traffic participation skills; warned of risks and consequences from violations such as: driving underage, not wearing helmets, driving side by side, speeding, reckless overtaking, etc.
“Through propaganda activities, students are not only equipped with basic legal knowledge but also form a sense of self-compliance, know how to distinguish right from wrong, and thereby be more responsible for themselves, their families and society.”
Ms. PHAM THI NGOC LY, Principal of Bui Thi Xuan Primary, Secondary and High School
Similarly, at a law dissemination session for more than 500 students of Nguyen Binh Khiem High School, Nhon Trach Commune Police helped them understand the basic contents of the Law on Order, Road Traffic Safety and Prevention of High-Tech Crime, especially being vigilant against the "online kidnapping" trick.
Truong Quynh Chi (student of Nguyen Binh Khiem High School) said: Thanks to the law propaganda by the police force, I and my friends have been equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to participate in traffic safety, as well as to recognize and avoid online fraud. This activity not only helps students raise their awareness of the law but also trains them in coping skills in dangerous situations, thereby proactively protecting themselves from risks from social life and the online environment.
Build many practical legal programs
In order for the propaganda and legal education in schools to be effective and sustainable, close coordination between the authorities and schools is needed. While the specialized agencies provide knowledge, documents, participate in guiding and answering students, the school plays the role of organizing, integrating and creating a favorable environment for propaganda activities to be regularly deployed.
Ms. Pham Thi Ngoc Ly, Principal of Bui Thi Xuan Secondary School (Tam Hiep Ward) shared: The school always identifies improving students' legal knowledge as an important task along with intellectual education. The school has implemented many specific solutions, including hanging signs, billboards, and slogans to propagate legal regulations on campus for students to easily access. In addition, the school regularly coordinates with local police to organize extracurricular activities, propagate traffic safety, prevent social evils, network security and common violations among school-age children.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Dinh Khuyen, Chief of Dai Phuoc Commune Police, said: The work of propagating the law for students is vividly built, integrating specific situations, emphasizing behaviors that should be avoided such as: driving when underage, not wearing a helmet when riding an electric bicycle, tricks of drug criminals and the dangers of drugs, instructing on skills to use social networks safely, how to prevent online fraud, not sharing personal information on online platforms...
In addition, students are also instructed in skills to prevent and combat school violence, behave civilly in communication, know how to reconcile conflicts and proactively seek help from teachers, family, police... when encountering dangerous situations. In particular, skills to protect themselves from the risk of being abused or lured by strangers are also integrated into the propaganda program.
Through the propaganda session, students were equipped with more legal knowledge and necessary life skills, raising awareness of law compliance and responsibility in maintaining security and order in the area. From there, contributing to building a safe and healthy school environment.
