On September 27, at the College of Technology II (HCMC), the series of activities "German Career Orientation Bus" 2025 continued to HCMC, attracting a large number of students, parents and teachers.
Expanding opportunities to study and work in Germany
"German Career Coach" is an initiative initiated by the German Embassy in Hanoi and the German Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, in coordination with the German Development Cooperation (GIZ), the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the Goethe-Institut, the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Vietnam (AHK) and many German enterprises.
The program will be implemented from April 2025 and will go through nearly 20 provinces and cities across Vietnam.
On the journey, the "bus" offers a series of rich activities: direct consultation on university study abroad, vocational training programs (Ausbildung), visas and jobs in Germany; CV writing and interview workshops; exhibitions of vocational schools, universities and German businesses; cultural, culinary and virtual reality technology experience areas.
This model is designed as a miniature career fair, where students and parents can comprehensively learn about study and career paths in Germany.

According to the organizers, this year's series of events takes place in the context of Germany having just issued and implemented many new immigration and education policies, aiming to attract skilled workers from abroad.
Notably, the Skilled Immigration Reform allows international students and apprentices to work up to 20 hours per week, instead of the previous strict limit.
The maximum age for applying for a visa to find a vocational training place is increased from 25 to 35, and the residence period is increased from 6 to 9 months.
People with practical experience but without formal qualifications may also be considered for a work permit in Germany in unregulated sectors.
The "recognition partnership" mechanism (working in Germany and completing on-site degree recognition) allows candidates to work and complete degree recognition procedures after arriving in Germany.
In addition, from the beginning of 2025, Germany will apply an online consular service portal, allowing applications for national visas online, helping to shorten processing times and reduce procedural burdens.

According to the latest statistics, the number of vocational training contracts with foreigners in Germany has increased by about 17% in 2024, including many Vietnamese citizens.
Priority is given to the fields of medicine, nursing, engineering, technology and green energy, with internship salaries supported from 1,000-1,500 euros/month. After graduation, workers can earn from 2,800-3,300 euros/month depending on the industry and locality.
The German government also increased funding for integration and German language courses to help foreigners quickly adapt to the living and working environment.
Mr. Ralf Hill - Head of the Vocational Education Innovation Programme in Vietnam, GIZ Vietnam - said that Vietnam has a great advantage as many vocational schools have applied German training standards, opening a clearer path for students who want to study in Germany and develop their careers.
He shared that German businesses increasingly appreciate human resources from Vietnam, not only for their solid professional skills but also for their diligence, quick adaptability and progressive attitude at work.
Meanwhile, Associate Professor Dr. Bui Van Hung - Principal of Industrial College II - assessed that direct connection with German educational institutions and enterprises helps universities and colleges access modern training models, thereby improving teaching quality and updating programs according to international standards.
According to him, cooperation with Germany means creating clearer "bridges" for Vietnamese students: they can both study in the country with a standard program and have the opportunity to continue studying abroad or doing internships in Germany.
He noted that the biggest barrier for Vietnamese students who want to study and work in Germany is language, because German is a difficult language. Therefore, if students have a plan, they need to persevere in practicing foreign languages from an early age, especially communication skills, to be able to confidently seize opportunities.
