Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Ha, Deputy Director, reviewed experiences at the review conference for the Department's leading and managing civil servants.
For collectives and individuals belonging to or directly under the Department with violations mentioned in the inspection conclusions, the Provincial People's Committee directs this agency to review and handle them according to procedures, levels and authorities to ensure objectivity, fairness and compliance with the law.
As previously reported by the Lao Dong Newspaper, the public opinion in Thai Binh province was recently stirred up when nearly 1,600 students had their 10th grade exam scores wrongly combined due to incorrect scores. The total admission scores of 1,589 students were incorrect. Of these, 252 students went from failing to passing the public exam, and the opposite number was similar.
After the inspection, the Department re-announced the exam scores of the candidates and organized the admission process according to regulations. The total number of candidates approved for admission was 16,287. Of the 260 candidates who passed but failed, 141 were admitted to private grade 10 schools, 73 were enrolled in continuing education. Of the remaining 16, three did not enroll, and 13 did not register for any school before the inspection.
The incident was discovered after some parents reported "irregularities" in the exam at the end of July 2024. Many candidates had their scores increased after the review, with an increase of about 1.25-5.75 points.
The 10th grade entrance exam in Thai Binh took place on June 6 and 7 with 20,500 candidates. The subjects included Math, Literature, and Foreign Language. About 1,100 students took additional specialized subjects to get admission scores to Thai Binh Specialized School. In the first round, more than 16,300 students passed, reaching 90% of the target.
In the 2024-2025 school year, Thai Binh province will have 747 educational institutions, more than 12,000 classes and over 400,000 students.
