The tradition of learning spreads from the land of learning
Over the centuries, Ninh Binh has been famous for being a land with a rich tradition of learning, with many families of scholars, many valedictorians in past and present exams. Not only in history books, but also in daily life, the spirit of learning is present in every village, every house.
In rural areas of Ninh Binh, parents work in the fields all year round but still attach importance to their children's education. Ms. Nguyen Thi Bien, a parent with two children studying in Vu Duong commune, shared: "Although the family's economy is not well off, grandparents and parents always tell each other: only education can change the future. We save every bit so that our children can have books, study properly, and not be inferior to their friends."

The spirit of learning in Ninh Binh is not only limited to individual efforts, but also a common movement of the community. Many communes, villages and clans maintain the tradition of honoring excellent students, establishing funds to encourage learning and talent, and awarding prizes to students with high achievements.
Mr. Ngo Xuan Diep, Chairman of the Association for Promotion of Education of Y Yen Commune, said: “In Ninh Binh, the movement to promote education and talents has become a lasting beauty. People believe that investing in education is investing in the future. Thanks to that, students in the province always have the spirit of striving to improve, achieving many high achievements in their studies.”
In the 2024-2025 school year, Ninh Binh students won 227/299 national excellent student awards (75.9%), including 1 first prize, 54 second prizes, 82 third prizes, 90 consolation prizes; 7 students were selected for the international Olympic team. In the science and technology research competition, Ninh Binh had 3/3 projects winning prizes. This is a testament to the enduring vitality of the tradition of studiousness.
Preserving tradition, adapting to the times
In the context of technology and integration, learning is not only about “studying hard” but also the ability to adapt and innovate learning methods. In many schools in Ninh Binh, subject classrooms, digital libraries, and smart classrooms have helped students access diverse knowledge.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Tho, a teacher at Ly Nhan Tong High School (Tan Minh, Ninh Binh), shared: “In the past, the love of learning was expressed through overcoming difficulties to go to class, but now students also know how to take advantage of technology to explore and discover. They can study online with international friends, research open documents, join science clubs, etc. This is how the tradition of love of learning is fueled by modern elements.”

Along with academic achievements, Ninh Binh students also assert their abilities in many new fields. In the 2024-2025 school year, the province has a series of exciting creative startup activities. The Ninh Binh Department of Education and Training successfully organized the Startup Festival and the "Startup in General Education" Forum, attracting a large number of students and experts. Many startup projects of high school students are highly appreciated for their practicality.
Not only in the academic field, Ninh Binh students also made their mark in school sports. At the 2025 National High School Sports Tournament, they won 1 Silver Medal and 9 Bronze Medals, contributing to affirming comprehensiveness in education.
Mr. Le Minh Quan, a parent in Hoa Lu ward, said: “We hope our children will study well, but more importantly, they will study happily. The tradition of learning must go hand in hand with cultivating character and life skills. Studying is not just to get high scores, but to help children become responsible people for themselves and society.”
Join hands to foster the tradition of studiousness
In Ninh Binh, the love of learning is not only fostered by family and school, but also by the cooperation of society. Hundreds of scholarship funds are operating, awarding thousands of scholarships each year, encouraging students to overcome difficulties and excel.
Mr. Bui Nhu Toan, Principal of Ly Nhan Tong High School (Tan Minh, Ninh Binh), emphasized: “Learning in today’s context is not just about studying for exams or getting high scores. We hope that students will learn to grow up, to have life skills, career skills and the courage to adapt to modern society. In Ninh Binh – a land rich in tradition, the spirit of learning needs to be nurtured by creativity, self-study and the desire to reach out to the world.”
In fact, in many Ninh Binh families, dinner is the time when parents open up about studying and career orientation. Stories about grandparents and parents who had a hard time studying are now told to inspire their children to follow in their footsteps.
As Ms. Nguyen Thi Be, a parent of a student in Phong Doanh commune, confided: “We just hope that our children will study properly, have a stable job and live a decent life. That is both a simple dream and a way for us to preserve the tradition of studiousness that our ancestors left behind.”
Preserving the tradition of studiousness in Ninh Binh in the modern context is not about preserving the old values, but about inheriting and developing them in accordance with the times. When families, schools and society join hands, when each student studies with passion and aspiration to improve, the tradition of studiousness of this land will last forever, contributing to the journey of integration and development of the country.
