One of the notable new points in this year's 10th grade entrance exam is the adjustment of the standard score calculation method.
Instead of multiplying the coefficient by 2 for math and literature as in previous years; in 2025, the admission score will be the total score of 3 exam subjects (math, literature, foreign language), each subject is calculated on a 10-point scale and not multiplied by the coefficient.
The formula for calculating admission scores to grade 10 of non-specialized public high schools in Hanoi in 2025 is as follows:
DXT = math score + literature score + foreign language score + priority score (if any) + incentive score (if any).
According to the announced 10th grade admission plan of Hanoi, candidates have 3 wishes to enter high school, in which wishes 1 and 2 are in the admission area the candidate has registered, wish 3 is in any admission area.

According to regulations of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, for public high schools, candidates who pass their first choice will not be considered for their second or third choices.
Candidates who do not pass their first choice can be considered for their second choice but must have an admission score at least 1 point higher than the school's admission standard score for their first choice.
Candidates who do not pass their first and second choices can be considered for their third choice but must have an admission score at least 2 points higher than the school's admission standard score for their first choice.
When the admission score is lowered, public high schools are allowed to accept candidates with second and third wishes who meet the admission requirements.
According to the plan, from July 7 to 9, schools will return application documents and admission exam results for grade 10 for the 2025-2026 school year to students.
Before July 10, schools will receive appeal applications, submit appeal applications and lists of students to the Department of Education and Training.
From July 10 to 12, high schools, vocational education centers - continuing education centers, and vocational education facilities will organize admission confirmation.
