Upon inspection, authorities discovered that the facility was selling 1,440 moon cakes and 128 sponge cakes with foreign labels.

The owner of the establishment could not present invoices or legal documents proving the origin of the goods. All of the cakes were identified as smuggled goods and were temporarily detained by Market Management Team No. 2 for handling according to regulations.
A representative of Market Management Team No. 2 said that the business of smuggled moon cakes of unknown origin poses many risks to food safety and can directly affect the health of consumers.
Not only focusing on food products, Market Management Team No. 2 also coordinated with city authorities to inspect 8 children's toy businesses in Hoan Kiem and Hong Ha wards.
As a result, the authorities discovered and seized 2,972 children's toys of various types with foreign labels and no invoices or documents proving their legal origin. The total value of the infringing goods was estimated at 96.73 million VND.
Toys of unknown origin are often not quality-tested, potentially posing a risk to children. This is also a key group of goods that will be subject to inspection and supervision during the peak planning for the Mid-Autumn Festival this year.
According to the Hanoi Market Management Department (Standing Agency of the City's Steering Committee 389), the cases that have just been discovered and handled show the complexity of the situation of smuggling food, moon cakes and children's toys. The Department has directed its market management teams to continue to closely follow the plan, strengthen coordination with the police force and local authorities to regularly inspect and promptly prevent goods of unknown origin from entering the market.
In addition, authorities also recommend that people choose products with clear labels and origins, and absolutely do not buy floating products or products with unusually low prices to avoid affecting the health and interests of themselves and their families.
