On August 19, the People's Committee of Lam Dong province held an inauguration ceremony for the road leading to Phan Thiet airport. This is an important road among 250 projects nationwide that were inaugurated online nationwide by the Prime Minister to celebrate the 80th anniversary of National Day on September 2.

The Phan Thiet Airport access road project is one of the projects connecting the national coastal road DT.706B to Phan Thiet Airport. The project aims to serve the strategy of developing coastal space, tourism, services and marine economy . At the same time, it contributes to completing the infrastructure of Phan Thiet Airport area.

The road has a roadbed width of 36 m, a road surface width of 13.5 m, a median strip width of 12.5 m, and a sidewalk width of 5 m on each side. The road surface structure is asphalt concrete on a crushed stone aggregate layer, and the sidewalk structure is paved with bricks.

Drainage system, trees, lighting, fire water supply, traffic safety. The project has a total investment of about 117.9 billion VND, the investment capital comes from the provincial budget.

The investor is the Provincial Traffic Project Management Board. The design consultant is the joint venture of Truong T Hanh Commercial Construction Design Joint Stock Company and Tan Phat Electric Company Limited. The construction contractor is the joint venture of Thang Long Construction Design and Investment Company Limited and Long Phat Commercial Construction Company Limited. The project started on January 12, 2024 and was completed on July 15, 2025.

At the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Nguyen Hong Hai emphasized: The inaugurated route is not only valuable in terms of traffic, but also has a deep historical significance when completed on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025). Phan Thiet Airport, with its dual-use role, is one of the key projects with strategic significance for the socio-economic development, national defense and security of Lam Dong province.

Therefore, it can be said that the Phan Thiet Airport Road project is a connecting route for the dream of "opening the sky" of cadres, party members and people of the blue sea Lam Dong area...

Good news from the airport

In early August 2025, Sun Airport Joint Stock Company sent a document to Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee proposing to invest in the civil aviation project of Phan Thiet airport. In particular, the company proposed to allow the conversion of the project's investment form from BOT to business investment form according to the provisions of the Investment Law.

The company also proposed to allow the application of regulations approving the investor's policy without auctioning land use rights or bidding to select investors, because the project falls under the case of land lease exempted from land use fees according to the provisions of the Land Law...

Phan Thiet Airport was started in 2015, including the military component invested by the Ministry of National Defense , which has been completed and put into use. The civil aviation component was approved at level 4C but was later adjusted by the Central Government to level 4E with the goal of serving more than 2 million passengers/year by 2030 and over 3 million passengers/year by 2050. However, in recent years, due to many different reasons, including changing investors in civil components, requesting to change the form of investment... the construction of the civil component has not met expectations...

The Sun Airport Joint Stock Company proposed to invest in civil items combined with the shared use of part of the pre-invested military items such as runways, taxiways and other infrastructure items on the principle of prioritizing economic development, ready to serve defense activities when required to make the most of completed assets. On the other hand, it significantly shortens the time to deploy civil items to soon put the airport into operation to serve the people.

From another perspective, when the civil part of Phan Thiet airport is put into use, plus the new route, the Department of Construction is building a project to shorten the distance between Mui Ne and the provincial administrative center, creating more opportunities for businesses to promote combined tours between Lam Dong blue sea and Lam Dong thousand flowers, attracting a large number of domestic and international tourists...

Putting the route to Phan Thiet airport into use is the first step to realizing the "dream of flying", the desire of the people after 10 years of waiting to see flights carrying passengers from all over to the blue sea of Lam Dong.
