(NLDO) - Tieu La Primary School - Da Nang confirmed that the parents' reflection was incorrect, the policy of installing air conditioners was carried out in accordance with regulations.

On October 24, Ms. Le Thi Thuy Nga, Principal of Tieu La Primary School - An Hai Bac Ward, Son Tra District, Da Nang City, said that the school's Board of Directors had a meeting with the Parents' Representative Board of Grade 3/6 students to report on the policy of installing air conditioners.

Specifically, on October 23, a parent of class 3/6 posted a reflection on social media with the content: "At the beginning of the school year, Tieu La Primary School allowed my child's class to install air conditioning. Now the school sent a voluntary request that after 3 years of study, it must be left to the school. If they do not agree, they must take it back immediately."

Ms. Nga said the above reflection is completely inaccurate. During the meeting with the Parents' Representative Board of Grade 3/6 students on the afternoon of October 23, some parents confirmed that the installation of air conditioners was based on Circular 16 of the Ministry of Education and Training, which regulates funding for educational institutions.

The parent representatives of this class also agreed to "fix cases where parents convey inaccurate information about the school."

Explaining further, Ms. Nga said that the school had made a record of receiving funding for education but there was absolutely no content of "voluntary request to leave the air conditioner". The 2024-2025 school year is the first year the school has implemented the policy of installing air conditioners according to parents' opinions, based on the instructions from Circular 16.

The school has 36 classes, of which 8 classes have proposed to install air conditioners in the classrooms to serve the students. Each class has 2 air conditioners installed with a total cost of more than 16 million VND/class.

The cost of installing air conditioning for each class comes from the class's fundraising source, not requiring all students to pay.

Tieu La Primary School affirmed that the installation of air conditioners in classrooms was carried out by the school in accordance with Circular 16 of the Ministry of Education and Training, with the consent of parents.

In the minutes of receiving the sponsorship, the school asked parents to commit to paying for the electricity according to the number of meters in the classrooms and the price at the time the electricity company announced. Ms. Nga said the reason for the above request was because only 8 classes had air conditioning installed, so there was no way to balance the source from boarding expenses to pay for the electricity. If the school paid from boarding income, it would be unfair to students in classes without air conditioning.

"If all classes in the school had air conditioning, we would use the boarding school budget to pay for electricity. But in this case, there are only 8 classes, and the installation of air conditioning was based on the parents' request and desire. Therefore, any class that has air conditioning must pay for its own electricity," Ms. Nga emphasized.

According to Ms. Nga, for classes that have installed air conditioners this school year, they will continue to use them in the following school year. When the students graduate, the air conditioners will be returned to the parent representatives. The school does not have a policy of "voluntary retention".

The principal added that parents may have been confused during the process of disseminating the policy, which led to their inaccurate feedback. After being explained, the parents removed the above information.
