Coffee flowers bloom white all over Dak Lak

In March, coffee flowers bloom white on the hillsides and fields in Dak Lak , attracting tourists to visit.

Coffee capital Dak Lak has more than 200,000 hectares of coffee plantations, providing the main source of income for most farmers in the Central Highlands provinces. Coffee flowering season signals the start of a new crop. Looking at the flowers blooming on the branches, farmers can assess the harvest at the end of the year.

Coffee flower season in Dak Lak usually blooms in February and March. Before the coffee flowers start to bud and bloom, growers often increase watering and nourish the plants about 3-4 times.

Mr. Le Van Vuong, Director of Vuong Thanh Cong Company, Dak Lak, said that since the beginning of January, his company has opened free tours for tourists to see coffee flowers, enjoy tea, and introduce agricultural tourism products associated with coffee.

Each coffee tree will normally bloom twice, each blooming for about 5-7 days, then gradually fade. The second blooming is about 15 days later, but the quantity and thickness of the flowers are not as much as the first blooming. Currently, some gardens in Dak Lak have passed the first blooming period.

Coffee flowers often bloom simultaneously because the plants are watered at the same time. If you come at the right time, after waking up overnight, you will see the pure white color covering the hillsides, fields, and roads in the land of coffee Ban Me.

The pure white color of coffee flowers stands out against the green of leaves, the red basalt soil, under the yellow sunlight, making the Central Highlands landscape even more prominent, beautiful and liberal.

The scent of coffee flowers is also "seductive", faintly sweet. Coffee flower season is also "the season when bees go to collect honey".

Having been attached to coffee trees for 30 years, every flowering season, Ms. Nguyen Thi Luyen (village 4, Ea Kao commune, Buon Ma Thuot city, Dak Lak province) is still "stuck and moved" by the beauty and relaxing scent of coffee flowers.

A group of young people from Ea Kao Commune and Tan Loi Ward, Buon Ma Thuot City, chose the most beautiful blooming flower garden in Ea Kao Commune to take souvenir photos. They said that by looking at the blooming coffee flowers, they could predict that the tree would bear fruit. Last season, coffee prices were good, and farmers were excited.

Coffee flower season in Dak Lak usually lasts for about a month, divided into many periods, in many different districts. March is also the best time of year to travel to the Central Highlands when the weather is clear and cool. Mr. Vuong said that in addition to visiting and admiring the flower gardens, visitors can learn about products made from coffee flowers such as flower honey, pollen, and coffee flower tea.

Tourists who come to check in coffee flowers should find out the blooming schedule at the destination in advance. They should combine itineraries to visit villages on the outskirts of the city or visit Dray Sap waterfall, 30 km from Buon Ma Thuot.
