Kindergarten and primary school students in Hanoi are off school when the temperature is below 10 degrees Celsius.

According to the forecast of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, cold air is currently affecting the Northern regions. Due to the influence of strong cold air, from January 22, the Hanoi area will experience the first severe cold spell of winter, which may affect the health of students.

To ensure the health of students, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training recommends that heads of education and training departments and school principals maintain monitoring of information on outdoor temperatures in the Hanoi area during the days of severe cold, which is broadcast in the weather forecast in the "Good Morning" program on VTV1 channel, Vietnam Television and the "Hanoi Morning" program on H1 channel, Hanoi Radio and Television at 6 a.m. every day.

Based on this information, school principals in the city proactively adjust school hours or allow students to take time off. Accordingly, preschool and primary school students will be off school when the outdoor temperature is below 10°C; secondary school students will be off school when the outdoor temperature is below 7°C.

During cold days, depending on the weather conditions of each locality, schools can adjust school hours so that students do not have to arrive too early. In case students arrive late due to weather reasons, schools need to be flexible in resolving the situation so that students can enter school.

The Hanoi Department of Education and Training has advised schools not to organize outdoor gatherings of students on extremely cold days. Schools should coordinate with parents to remind students to wear warm clothes, eat nutritious food, and maintain good health.

The school does not require students to wear uniforms on cold days. At the same time, it increases inspection and timely repair of doors of classrooms, functional rooms, boarding rooms, dining rooms... to ensure they are windproof, have enough light and keep students warm.
