Previously, it was planned that on the morning of April 1, elementary, middle and high school students of the American International School would return to school after spring break (from March 23 to March 31), but last night (March 31), the school announced that "students cannot return to school yet". Specifically, on the evening of March 31, the American International School sent an email to parents of the entire school informing them that students could not return to school today (April 1). Previously, since March 18, students of this school have been absent from school or have come to school but have not been able to study as planned because most of the school's teachers did not come to class to teach due to previous salary arrears.
In an email sent to parents, the school said it has not yet completed the establishment of a 3-party account (including the school, representatives of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, and parents) for the contributions to maintain the school's operations for the next period. These contributions range from 9.5 million VND (primary school) to 25.5 million VND (grades 9-12) per month to maintain the school's teaching and learning activities. This contribution is outside the annual tuition fee and will be supervised by representatives of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City.
Meanwhile, at noon on April 1, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City informed about the contributions to support the operation of the American International School and sent the receiving account number to parents.
The Department also informed the co-owners of the account and the process of reviewing this account, including: Mr. Tran Khac Huy - Head of the Financial Planning Department of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City (the first account owner approved the review of the final payment contents); Mr. Ho Quang Trung (the second account owner approved the review of the first payment contents); the representative of the parents' representative board is Ms. Tran Phuong Anh (supervising the first payment contents when the accountant of the American International School presented).
Regarding the expenditure control process, all parent contributions will be compiled, managed and transparently disclosed by the interdisciplinary working group. The amount of contributions will be approved by the professional department of the interdisciplinary team for proper spending, under the supervision of the representative of the American International School's parent association.
Previously, in a meeting between the school, parents and the authorities, the parties agreed (some parents did not agree) that parents would contribute an additional amount of money to maintain the school's teaching and learning activities to create conditions for students to return to school. This amount is expected to be 125 billion VND, which will be monitored by the parties as mentioned above to ensure that the school will use it for the right purpose.
Students at the American International School continue to be absent from school.
