Field workshop on J02 rice variety in Vinh Tien commune (Vinh Loc)

On May 9, in Vinh Tien commune (Vinh Loc), a field workshop on J02 rice variety of Vietnam Agricultural Development and Extension Joint Stock Company took place.

The model was deployed in the spring crop of 2024 in Tho Phu village, Vinh Tien commune with a scale of 20 hectares, with 80 participating households. The J02 variety originated from Japan, selected by the Institute of Agricultural Genetics. Vietnam Agricultural Development and Extension Joint Stock Company exclusively produces and distributes.

Through the planting time, it has been shown that the rice variety has a growing period of 125 days, an average height of 90-100 cm, strong tillering, strong plants, good lodging resistance, pest and disease resistance and cold resistance, dark green leaves, low seed shedding, low rate of empty grains, good growth and development ability, wide adaptability, fragrant rice quality, soft, sticky rice, rich flavor and delicious. Through initial assessment, the average yield is estimated at 85 quintals/ha (fresh rice).

During the implementation of the model, the staff of the Vietnam Agricultural Development and Extension Joint Stock Company and the staff of the Vinh Loc District Agricultural Service Center directly guided the technical process from land preparation, sowing, care to harvesting. Up to now, the model has been successful and has received the approval and response of households participating in the model. Through practical evaluation and comparison with other rice varieties, this rice variety has a higher yield.

Thanks to the superiority of J02 rice variety, in 2025, Vinh Loc district will expand the planting area in the communes of Vinh Long , Vinh Hoa, Vinh Thinh, Vinh An, and Ninh Khang.
