Sweet scent of earth and human love

Every time I travel back to Huong Son, stepping over Linh Cam bridge, I feel like I open the door of time to return to my hometown memories. According to history, the name of Huong Son district dates back to 1469, during the reign of King Le Thanh Tong.

My hometown Huong Son is a midland mountainous district stretching along the majestic Truong Son range. The terrain here is like a basin in the middle of an arc with many high mountains such as Ba Mu, Giang Man, Thien Nhan, Mong Ga... The clouds, mountain winds, rivers, and the local climate have accumulated into products such as tea, oranges, deer antlers... In particular, the scent of the land and the atmosphere have converged into the vitality that helps this countryside prosper and constantly grow stronger over time.

Huong Son is also a land of cultural sediments with many ancient communal houses and pagodas... that have entered the consciousness of every local resident such as: Tuong Son Pagoda (Son Giang Commune), Bach Van Temple, Thinh Xa Pagoda (An Hoa Thinh Commune)... The whole district has 51 historical and cultural relics, including 11 national relics and 40 provincial relics.

With the gifts that nature has bestowed, this land has given birth to many talented people with high achievements. According to Huong Son Geography, from the end of the 15th century to the end of the Le Dynasty, the whole district had 7 doctors, the number of people who passed the Huong Khoa exam was quite large. During this period, there were 19 Huong Cong (four-level exam winners) and many Sinh Do (three-level exam winners). During the Nguyen Dynasty, education developed much more widely, the number of people who studied and passed the exams was concentrated in a number of villages and communes belonging to Yen Ap, Do Xa, Huu Bang communes, which are the communes in the downstream area today such as: Son Bang, Son Trung, Son Phu...

In particular, Huong Son land is also known as the hometown of the famous physician Hai Thuong Lan Ong Le Huu Trac. According to historical documents, in 1746 of the 18th century, the motherland of Huong Son was the place where the famous physician came to live. On this land of beautiful mountains and rivers, he mingled with nature, establishing "Gia mountain, Sen lake". Not only did he watch the moon and discuss poetry, but he also spent day and night with plants, flowers and leaves, researching precious remedies to cure and save people.

He left behind a book series "Hai Thuong y tong tam linh" with 28 volumes, 66 books and many precious books that will be valuable forever. Remembering the great physician's merits, the people of Huong Son have a saying: "Love Diem beside the mountain and the river/ The whole village and the whole district owe Lan Ong a lifetime of gratitude". Every year, the Hai Thuong Lan Ong festival is organized by the government and people of Huong Son district on the 13th and 14th of January, attracting a large number of tourists from all over the world.

No matter the period, the people of Huong Son always know how to overcome difficulties, turning potential into livelihood. Despite countless difficulties, the people here, with their strong will, stand side by side to reclaim and restore the vast hills and mountains to form a rich countryside. The dense forests and rivers have created green forests all year round. Huong Son forests are like a precious gift from nature, a vegetation cover and source of water for the land and people here.

Through labor and production, with their hands and minds, Huong Son people have created products imbued with the soul of the countryside such as Xa Lang wood, Thinh Xa weaving and specialties such as deer antlers, Bu oranges... famous in and outside the province.

Stretch out to "wake up"

The tea hill in Son Kim 2 commune has become an attractive destination for many young people to visit.

The land and sky of Huong Son have converged to create deer antler products that people often call "heaven's gift" which are very good for human health. Only the land of Huong Son has juicy orange trees or drops of honey with the scent of the wild... That land is also famous for tourist destinations such as: Son Kim hot mineral water eco-tourism area (Son Kim 1 commune); tea hills of Tien Phong village, Thanh Dung, Lang Che... (Son Kim 2 commune)...

In particular, associated with the Hai Thuong Lan Ong relic complex, Hai Thuong Ecotourism Area (Son Trung commune) is considered a "green pearl" in the middle of the mountains and forests. This is a place that preserves historical and cultural values ​​associated with the life and career of the Great Physician and is a typical highlight of Huong Son tourism when harmoniously combining ecotourism with cultural tourism.

Today, along the poetic Ngan Pho River, at the foot of the towering Thien Nhan Mountain, Huong Son is still overcoming difficulties. From a poor countryside with difficult traffic, the appearance of the countryside and town has now changed with the fresh colors of modern life. Up to now, Huong Son has 1,780 economic models with an income of over 100 million VND/year. The whole district has 95 cooperatives, 338 cooperative groups, 656 enterprises... Thanks to that, the material and spiritual life of the people is constantly improving.

Notably, recently, the UNESCO General Assembly at its 42nd session passed a resolution with a list of 53 cultural celebrities, including Hai Thuong Lan Ong Le Huu Trac.

Sharing about this joy, Ms. Le Thi Phuong - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Quang Diem Commune - the motherland of the Great Physician, excitedly said: "The fact that the Great Physician Hai Thuong Lan Ong was honored by UNESCO is truly a great pride for the people of Quang Diem Commune in particular and Huong Son District in general. This will be the motivation for the Party Committee, the government and the people of Quang Diem Commune to strive to build their homeland to be more and more beautiful, civilized, worthy of what the Great Physician Le Huu Trac has passed on to the next generation."

Mr. Ho Thai Son - Vice Chairman of Huong Son District People's Committee shared: Being a mountainous locality with a harsh climate, lots of sun and rain, but overcoming all, the people here have been diligent, hard-working, and diligent in production to build a new life. Huong Son people are bold, courageous, loyal, and steadfast. These characteristics have created the unique character of the people here. The locality is gradually making efforts to develop the socio-economy, strengthen socialization to preserve and promote tourism, heritage... In particular, the locality is planning a series of activities to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the birth of Hai Thuong Lan Ong Le Huu Trac next year. This event will contribute to encouraging and motivating people to raise awareness and responsibility to preserve the values ​​that the Great Physician left for posterity.

The charming countryside of Huong Son is still striving to change every day.
