Recently, the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Environment has coordinated with localities to promote the bringing of safe agricultural products and food from provinces and cities to Hanoi for consumption.

This not only provides a safe source of agricultural products and food with clear origins for consumers in the capital, but also creates favorable conditions for functional sectors in controlling food safety. Therefore, in the coming time, Hanoi and localities need to continue to coordinate more effectively to organize activities and events connecting supply and demand.

Supply and demand meet

Mr. Do Huu Xuan, representative of DR.DON Joint Stock Company (Ha Dong ward) with the Kochi brand, said that the company specializes in producing community health care foods derived from agricultural products and medicinal herbs, such as: Black garlic, red fo-ti, red apples, turmeric, etc. To expand the consumer market, the company focuses on investing in science and technology in product processing; regularly participates in trade promotion fairs in and outside the city; signs contracts to supply products to supermarkets, convenience stores, etc. His business is in great need of a safe and stable source of raw materials.

As a specialized agricultural area, Son La has the second largest fruit growing area in the country, leading the northern provinces. Continuing to effectively implement the Joint Program No. 7237/CTPH-BNNPTNT-UBND dated October 23, 2021 on ensuring food safety, improving the quality of agricultural, forestry and fishery products, and trade between Hanoi and other provinces and cities in the period of 2021-2025, up to now, Hanoi and 43 provinces and cities have maintained and supported the development of 1,327 safe food supply chains for Hanoi. Of which, Hanoi maintains and develops safe agricultural production and consumption chains with 170 chains.

In general, 100% of supply chains from provinces, cities and Hanoi are granted certificates of qualified food safety facilities or equivalent, in which over 45% of product supply chains for Hanoi city have at least 1 stage certified for production according to one of the standards GAP, HACCP, ISO 22000, organic...

Head of the Department of Quality, Processing and Market Development (Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Environment) Nguyen Thi Thu Hang said that Hanoi has only produced enough to meet 20-70% of the demand for each essential food group. The amount of goods that are still lacking compared to the demand and consumption preferences of the capital's people is currently supplied from domestic provinces and cities and imported.

To meet the consumption needs of the capital's people, the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Environment regularly organizes fairs, festivals, conferences to connect, display and introduce products to promote agricultural, forestry and fishery products to distribution systems, processing enterprises and consumers in the city.

“Developing the market for agricultural, forestry and fishery products creates conditions for cooperatives and businesses to meet, exchange information and sign contracts for product consumption. In addition, cooperation between provinces and cities to bring agricultural products and specialties to the Hanoi market will help functional sectors control the quality of agricultural products and safe food for consumers,” Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Hang added.

Diversify product consumption channels

The development of safe agricultural supply chains for Hanoi has received attention from localities but is not commensurate with the potential and advantages. Propaganda, advertising, trade promotion, and consumption connection work is still traditional; there is no innovation in applying digital transformation to connecting production and consumption; the strengths of export enterprises in Hanoi in connecting consumption for raw material areas have not been fully utilized...

To strengthen coordination and connection in the consumption of safe agricultural products from provinces and cities to Hanoi, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Environment Ta Van Tuong said that localities need to support cooperatives and enterprises in large-scale chain production, applying high and sustainable technology, developing production chains with GAP, GMP, HACCP certification; building brands, geographical indications, improving product designs and packaging to provide to distribution enterprises and consumers for easy recognition and peace of mind. Localities also need to promote propaganda to raise awareness for enterprises and production households to comply with legal regulations and comply with safe agricultural production processes.

In addition, provinces, cities and Hanoi need to regularly provide and share information on output, quality, seasons, raw material areas, and contact information for local agricultural, forestry and fishery products. Localities and Hanoi will continue to coordinate in organizing events connecting supply and demand of agricultural products in supermarkets, modern distribution channels, traditional markets, etc.
