Construction of 33 Great Solidarity houses for the poor began

(People's life) - On November 10, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee - "For the Poor" Fund Mobilization Committee of Chau Phu district held a groundbreaking ceremony to build 33 Great Solidarity houses for poor families with special housing difficulties in the district.

At the groundbreaking ceremony, delegates presented symbolic boards to support the construction of 33 Great Unity houses to localities allocated resources to build houses for poor households and presented symbolic boards of Great Unity houses to 10 poor households with special housing difficulties, each house worth 50 million VND.

The 33 Great Solidarity Houses are supported by the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam, An Giang branch, along with local mobilization and family contributions with a total value of nearly 2 billion VND. The houses are expected to be completed and put into use before the Lunar New Year 2024.

The Great Solidarity House Construction Support Program has helped poor households have solid, spacious houses, feel secure in working, studying, gradually stabilizing their lives, and rising up to escape poverty sustainably.

Previously, on November 6, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thoai Son district also held a handover ceremony of 8 Great Unity houses to 8 poor households in 2 communes of Vinh Trach and Vinh Phu with a total value of 411 million VND.

On November 8, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front - the "For the Poor" Fund Mobilization Committee of Tinh Bien town coordinated with the Bodhisattva Association of Chau Doc city to organize the giving of gifts to households affected by storms and tornadoes in Tinh Bien town.

Specifically, 179 households in An Cu, An Phu, An Nong, Van Giao, and Tan Loi communes affected by storms and tornadoes were supported with cash ranging from VND500,000 to VND2 million per household. Of which, 11 houses that were completely collapsed were supported with VND2 million per household. The total cost of the donation was over VND150 million, sponsored by the Bodhisattva Association of Chau Doc City.
