The restoration of bus route number 86 received enthusiastic support from many students and residents of Ho Chi Minh City.

Route 86 connects 3 universities

According to the Public Transport Management Center, this route was restored with a route connecting the city center with South Saigon, passing through many universities such as Ho Chi Minh City Open University, University of Natural Resources and Environment, and University of Physical Education and Sports .

The service will resume on September 5 after nearly 3 years of inactivity, meeting the expectations of people, especially students.

Operating hours are from 5am to 7pm every day with 110 trips/day. The route has new stops at Long Kieng Bridge and the Cultural - Sports Center (Le Van Luong). Ticket price: 6,000 VND/regular trip, 3,000 VND/trip for students, 135,000 VND/30 tickets.

On the afternoon of September 8, Mr. Trinh Hoai Nam - a driver on this bus route - said he was excited to be able to help students get to school closer and more conveniently during the new school year.

"I like meeting young people. Listening to students talk about their school life makes me happy. Many of them even thank me for taking them to school instead of their parents. I'm both happy and embarrassed," he said.

Studying far from home, choose bus to save money

After 3 days of traveling, Yen Nhi - a second-year student at Ho Chi Minh City Open University - shared with Tuoi Tre Online that she used to go to school by school bus. Every day she had to pay 35,000 VND to go to school.

Since this bus resumed operation, you only have to pay 6,000 VND for two trips with a student card.

"I save quite a bit of money. Every day I save nearly 30,000 VND, every month almost a million. I can use that money for other personal purposes," you said.

Van Hien - 22 years old, student at Ho Chi Minh City Open University - since the day bus 86 resumed operation, he decided to choose the bus as his means of transportation to school, instead of riding a motorbike like before.

"I think it also contributes to building a civilized and clean city. Buses now run on electricity, which reduces environmental emissions. Young people like us are gradually switching to taking buses to contribute to the green transition," Van Hien said.
